I have to replace my upper oil pan gasket. My question is, since I have to take so much off the engine to get this done, is there any parts I should replace preventitively? The rear main seal, for example.

No gasket on there. Make sure you use some high quality silicone like the ac delco stuff, Honda bond, etc.
Yes replace the rear main. It’s two pieces so remove both parts. Highly recommend using the tool to install it. Verify any other leaks and fix them while you got that trans out. Makes life far easier, specially if on a lift
