Trans Cooler / Radiator bypass

Has anyone adding a bigger trans cooler bypassed the radiator and just used an external cooler? Kind of thinking that this is just like the oil cooler and one more thing that heats up the coolant.

Looking to add a 12x12x2" cooler with a fan mounted under the truck to handle keeping the transmission cool.

I tow with it. Combined weight 20k Its a 2007 Kodiak

Absolutely NOT a good idea. The heat exchanger is far more efficient at pulling heat out of the trans fluid than the air to oil cooler. A quick search will confirm what I'm talking about as well for your situation
