Which 99 are you talking about? They made 2 different 2500's in 99, nbs gmt-800, and obs gmt-400. If going obs it can fit, but it's alot of work, if going nbs, again it will fit, but I believe you'll have to do the 2" body lift and I believe Eric said the 99-00 nbs trucks had some slight wiring variations from the 01+ trucks to deal with.
If swapping the wiring and it already has a 6.0l, then its an easy swap as it's mostly the same truck.
I had thought the 2500/3500 99's were still the old body style, thats why I figured Ferm and Bu would be the two guys who knew that swap....but yeah, if its an -800 body truck then the swap is straightforward.
Well they made a 2500 and 2500hd those years. 2500 was gmt800 and 2500hd, 3500, and 3500hd were gmt400 for those years.I think they even made the gmt400 3500hd untill 2002. Strange times for sure.
Actually I've seen 99 and 00 list both the 800 and 400 as 2500's. It's really screwy, but GM ran 2 different lines for 99-00. The gmt-455(the true 3500hd) continued on I believe until 02. The 99-00 gmt-800's had quite a few different front end parts from my searches like one off tie rod ends and ball joi,ts only used for those 2 years. Also had some other minor oddities here and there in them like the iron heads on the 6.0l.
You can. Pretty sure the early 2500 NON HD trucks used the same frame as the BURBS do. You're going to get more frame flex than you would with a true HD frame.
