LB7: starter runs when batteries connected

i put on a new starter and when i went to re connect the batteries the starter would start spinning whenever i connected the battery

the key is off. i pulled the relay for the starter out and itl still to it. replaced it with another relay and it still does it.

is there any difference between the starters in the years? this one just turns on when the batteries are connected with the truck off

did you hook to the selinoid properly? Sounds like the selinoid is hot to me.

yup, there was two wires that disconnect from the solenoid when replacing the starter, one really big one and one little one.

not callin you stupid just throwin it out there, maybe the selinoid is bad to start with on the new starter.

starter relay could be bad, the black small wire is the signal wire

no offence taken, thanks for your input. im going to check and see if any wires got melted ot fused together in that area.

something it making that thing turn on.

i think something might be touching where i cant see it

Well??????????? What was it? Short in the wires

yeah, the solenoid was slight different on this starter then the other. the washer that the wires clamp on to has a tab on it and it was making contact with the soldering on the ground wires on the solenoid. cant see it, but you can feel it when its installed. The old one i had the soldering was a bit cleaner and it wasn't as big so it didn't make contact before.

now i wonder how my 12v ign terminal just fell off on the old one
looks like it was melted
