This isnt really diesel related but if you ever have the chance to run this trail with someone or yourself, i highly suggest you do it.
This past week i took the week off to do a trip up to the Rubicon Trail and run it in my samurai. it took right down to the last minute to have the thing put back together in time from the accident but i made it. it was an absolute blast! the fact you run down a trail from the early to mid 1800s is what gets me. I dont understand how in the world horse drawn buggys and people to make it through this trail. Granted it may not have been as bad back then but still, it wouldnt be easy!
We left at 4:00am wednesday morning last week and drove straight through to Loon Lake which is right at the trail head. Thursday mornin we drove all the way into buck island lake and camped there for the night. Saturday we tried to make it to Cadillac hill but couldnt quite make it there due to how many were in our group and we planned to keep camping at buck island lake. So we turned back around at rubcion springs. Saturday consisted of us going back out toward Loon Lake and going up the "Old Sluice" trail. Saturday night we got a cheap motel in S. Lake tahoe and early sunday morning he hauled butt back to Phoenix.
It was such a good time. I broke my traction bar (.095 wall tubing held up much longer than i anticipated ), and had my dual shackle setup start to bend. Fixed all that thrusday night and romped on it all the rest of the trip. the trail was really made for my rig, i walked through all the hard stuff much easier than the longer jeeps :woott:
My buddy took 2500 pics and they are in the link below. the link starts at the very end but all teh pics loaded backwards. First day is at the end and last day is at the beginning. Im the only black samurai in the group lol
