I brought a lb7 were the reluctor wheel came loose. Been doing some research, but still have some questions.

I fished out 2 out of 3 bolts. Do I need to find the last one, or will it be fine left in oil pan?

What are the knock pins?

And the reluctor wheel only goes on one way right?

Thanks

It looks like the reluctor is designed so that it can only go on one way if you use the knock pins during install. See the attached PDF.

As for leaving the bolt in the pan, how lucky do you feel? If it made it to the lower pan, just drop that and remove it. If it is in the upper pan, it could bounce up and get creamed by the crankshaft. If you're lucky, it just bounces around. If you're less lucky, it wedges between the crank and a maincap or something and jacks up all kinds of things.

Thanks. What my chances of finding it in the lower oil pan? By dropping the lower oil pan, does that give me a good view of the back to middle of upper pan?
