Just got back from a 300 mile one way tow, with 13,800 pounds in tow.

I averaged, 5.43 miles per gallon. This LMM is the worst fuel sucker I have ever owned. Hell, the boat I was pulling gets 2mpgs at 750hp... I am going to have to use the LB7 for the tow back.

x2. When it was stock my dad's LMM got around 9 pulling a 32' triple slide 5th wheel camper that weighed in at about 14k lbs.

Its complicated, I do a lot of vehicle swapping with my business. The LB7 and the 09 LMM belong to me. That 07 belonged to MRI, but we sold it and bought a Dodge. I never even drove that truck, so I cant comment on it. I am sure it was the same.

I wanted a new truck, so I bought one:D. You know how that goes.

I am assuming the LB7 will do better, But I do not know that.

BTW truck has 3,000 miles on it. I dont really see fuel mileage getting much better?.

Something is wrong! It shouldn't have been less than 9 mpg. Take it to the dealer and bitch. MPG will improve with miles but it should be doing better than that.

Our LBZ with a 13k TT behind it at 70mph and 5th most of the time (6th on flat roads) gets around 9mpg.

I have a friend who's dad has a 08 LMM that is stock and towing a set of jetskis to Wisconsin and got 12mpg at 80mpg...At the same time my friend was towing their X-15 Wakeboard boat with his 04.5 lifted/smarty Cummins at 16mpg. With just a snowmobile trailer (~6500lbs) he drops down to around 8-9mpg with the LMM.

5th at 70 had to hurt the mpgs

why??? The LB7's and LLY's have no 6th gear and they can easily get 13mpg towing a load like that.

for all intents and purposes, the 6th gear on the LBZ/LMM trucks really does nothing but lower cruising RPM's and highway noise. Yes the rpm is lower, but you still need X amount of HP to push a 7,000lb brick through the air. To make that X horsepower at 2000rpm vs. 2300rpm really doesnt use or save any more fuel.

LB7's and LLY's easily get the same, if not, better MPG's without 6th gear.

When I moved back home from ID to TX, I was grossing about 16k and averaged 13 MPG running about 75 the whole way back.

Somethings wrong.....I ran a 700 mile round trip 6-7 weeks ago towing 17,500 lbs (25K gross) at 65 mph and got 11.3 mpg. I towed in 6th, cruise on, with the tow/haul on and it only dropped into 5th a couple of times.
