I think there all pieces Sh*t to be honest with you. Everyone of them is overpriced and falls apart or is so F-ing heavy they suck to ride... Hmm, I think winter sucks up here and is making me pissy:D

Honestly, I totally agree with you on the price thing. 15g CDN up here is too much for a new sled. And when you lose precious riding days when they blow up second trip out it gets old fast!

But nobody said sledding was cheap. It's as bad as these trucks!!

Price wise they are about the same:(

Have fun In BC Dale and be careful. Take some pics if the weather is nice and post them up. One day I will make there and do some riding.

I picked up this sled at the end of the season last year for a killer deal. The sled was basically stock besides a front bumper and the guy had taken out the cfi 800 and put an older PSI 990 in it.
Over the summer I tor it apart and put a drop and roll on it with a new 3" track. I also sent the shocks off to be redone and performed a few suspension tweaks.
After talking with a few in the know about these PSI motors I tore the motor down and found that it had the wrong pistons in it. Luckily I found those before it grenaded on me. So after a full rebuild and a few cosmetic changes this is were I am at with no snow to ride.

Nice Mod!!
Those PSI motors are killer torque monsters. You will have a lot of fun on it if it ever snows lol. Seems to be the same story everywhere though-no snow.:(

Plenty of snow for me to ride every day. But I have cats maintaining the snowpack for me :D and even then the sleds are no fun without powder.

Ya guys are still riding up here too but having to drive farther and farther up the roads to unload. Too early for that nonsense.
We have been getting lots of snow, but everytime it dumps a couple feet, it gets followed by warm temps and then rain, then cold temps. Surprised there haven't been more avalanche deaths up here.

I find that hard to believe. I guess it depends on what they call a failure. E-tec is known to have injector and stator issues but piston failures are EXTREMELY rare around these parts. Only issues seem to be rods in boosted sleds. Lots of guys putting 3 - 5000 miles on without issue. Hell I know a mountain guide in Whistler that got 15 000km on his '13 XM before it cooked a bearing and threw a rod. And they warrantied it!!
Since the '07/'08 800r motor the Doo has been fairly reliable.

As far as the Pro's, my neighbor had a '12, then a '14. Both lost a piston in the first 200-400 miles. His '12 went 3 times in 700 miles then he snow checked the '14. Same issues. Traded it in on an XM and almost 3000 miles in two seasons and has changed plugs twice that's it. He did blow a secondary up though...... Another buddy has an IQ that blows up everytime he takes it out, a '12 that usually gets about 500 miles before it loses a piston and he is too stubborn to spend the money on an RK Tek kit so he keeps doing it over with stock parts, and a boosted '15 that so far has been good but only has 300 miles on it due to poor snow this year.

It seems the '14/'15 is a bit better, but still lots of guys are finding cracks around the 1000 mile mark in the skirts. And if you make 1500 miles your on borrowed time. RK Tech fix kit seems to take care of the problems though and some have gone as far as to just throw an RK Tech piston in when they are new. Poo around these parts seems to only warranty the first blow up and after that even if you are under warranty they like to call it abuse or lack of maintenance or anything they can to not foot the bill for a rebuild.

On the whole Cat does seem to have the most reliable 2 stroke motor consistently over the past 10 years.

Must be a Canadian thing then... Anyone I know with a 2012 Polaris 800 has 2000+ miles on it without engine issues, the earlier CFI 800's were notorious for failures and junk... At Cooke the 12-13 season, they failed one 800 etec internally (he never said what) and failed one Pro R 800 internally... The pro R's & etecs they were selling had a minimum of 2000 miles, and some had over 4000 in one season, never touched....

Funny thing is I had a skidoo buddy that burned pistons up in his 2013 800 etec, but it was stator related and he was having ignition problems and kept trying to ride it 60 miles back to cabin in Michigan and burned up the pistons.... Only '12 and newer 800 I've personally known that blew up.

Sweet mod for sure!!!

My dream sled is an IQR with 1200cc engine and mountain track kit tricked out to the max, but I'll never own one/build one, lol.

Sweet, good choice! Race gas setup? What turbo is it running?

Cooke should be a blast. It's on my bucket list of ride destinations:thumb:

I believe its a KPA 2860 ceramic ball bearing turbo... The new setup is pretty sweet, the oil drain gets plugged, and you fill oil cavity with injection oil, then hook one of the oil injection lines from pump to turbo, and its coolant cooled also....no oil tank or pump for turbo anymore...

Seen lots of them blown up on Snowest. But ya not as many of the newer ones than the old. Guys that ride the flatlands most of the time seem to not have any issues at all but for some odd reason almost every one I have heard of has blown on the trail to the alpine or back down. Not sure if they have a lean spot at a certain elevation and they let go then or what. But it's almost always the same thing every time-broken skirt.

Skidoo had their release today of the 2016. Nothing really exciting. Waiting for the Poo and Yammy releases to see what surprises they have!

Yamaha had their 2016 release today. New front end and 3"x162" track for the Viper MTX. Don't really care about the rest of the lineup but they had a few changes to the Vector motor as well.
Really surprised at the pricing on the T3 Summit also, it's almost the same as a Viper. Getting ridiculous on pricing.

On the fence on what to buy still. Waiting for the new Poo release and more feedback on the Axys engine.
