Allison 5sp: No drive

Hello. Have a small problem. No drive. Just picked up the truck from Heath who just the D&A convertion on my truck and have 1000miles on the clock. Pulled into a park for a few hrs sleep and now want to go but have no drive thru the auto. No codes either. Oil level in trans looks ok. Selector on trans is moving.
Got any ideas please? Thanks.

Nope. I should add I had a similar problem yesterday morning and it threw A few codes. One of which was P0700. And doing some reading it could be the NBSU switch.

Got p0841 p0872 p0873 p0700 p0722 yesterday morning. And cleared them all with the scan gauge and all was good. Heath did rebuild the trans with one of yr kits I believe mike.

Very possible NSBU switch problem. The P0722 is a speed sensor code. That can be problematic as well. Disconnect main harness connecter at back of trans ( squeeze connecter at 3 and 9 oclock and wiggle off. It should put you in an induced limp mode ( 3rd and reverse only ).

Got a new problem for you mike. Just fitted a new NBSU. Can start in park and the neutral positions and can't start in any others. But still can't get any drive and reverse. And to top it off, no codes thrown. Got any ideas?

Was trans in neutral when you installed the switch? Was the aligning tab in place on the switch still in correct place?

I believe I had it in neutral. Looking at the drivers side of car. Rotate shaft all the way anti clockwise then back 2 clicks.
The switch didn't come with that little aligning tool. So Heath told how I should align that.

mike .. here is the switch.

in this pic. the red markers were lined up with the green ones to replicate neutral on the switch.
the blue marker? is that what u were talking about? if so what to line it up with?

You have the later switch. On your switch you have 2 prongs at 6 and 12 oclock on the rotataing part. They must line up with the 2 prongs at the top of the switch. I layed a drill bit lining up all 3 prongs.

Valve body is my next guess and I would be looking at the E shift valve being stuck.

used a scanning tool but couldn't see shift movement with it. ( not a Tech2 ) but i could see P0701 coming back after every time i cleared it.
pan is coming off tomorrow nite for a looksee.

P0701 is a pressure problem.

so waste of time pulling the pan off and valve body out looking for a stuck valve?

Yup pressure problem. Pan filter fell out. Incorrect oring fitted to neck. All fixed now. Runs well.

That was my guess when I talked to Heath last night. Glad all is well.:thumb:
