Any special requirements for seat mounting and Tech requirements ? I got a start on fabing a seat mount this past weekend and got to wondering if there any special requirements ? Also were do the lap belt portion of the 5 point have to mount/ tie into I planed on mounting them to the roll bar also ? i know the shoulder belts attach to the main hoop and the "crotch" belt i was going to either attach to the seat mount or tie it into the frame depending on safety requirements .

the shoulder straps should be below your shoulders and your crotch strap should be mounted behind your spine. If you can get ahold of nhra for thier rule books it will tell you how to mount it.

10:5 DRIVER RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
A quick-release, 3-inch driver restraint system, with a 2-inch crotch
strap, meeting SFI Spec 16.1 is mandatory in all cars in competition
required by the rules to have a roll bar or a roll cage. (Permitted in
all other classes.) A 3-inch SFI Spec 16.5 driver restraint system is
also acceptable wherever an SFI Spec 16.1 is mandatory or
permitted. Driver restraint system must be clearly labeled as
meeting SFI Spec 16.1 and be dated by manufacturer. See Class
Requirements for additional requirements for Top Fuel and Funny
Car. SFI Spec 16.1 Y-type belts prohibited. (In cases where the
class does not require an SFI 16.1 driver restraint system, the twoyear
recertification does not apply.) System must be updated at
two-year intervals from date of manufacture. All seat-belt and
shoulder harness hardware must be originally designed to be used
with each other and produced by the same manufacturer. For
harness installation, see illustration. Cars using OEM or OEM-type
seat may route crotch strap in front of seat instead of through seat.
Only units that release all five attachment points in one motion are
permitted. When arm restraints are worn with a restraint system
that utilizes a “latch lever,” a protective cover must be installed to
prevent arm restraint from accidentally releasing the latch lever.
Protective cover not required if system utilizes “duck-bill” latch
hardware. All harness sections must be mounted to the frame,
crossmember, or reinforced mounting, and installed to limit driver’s
body travel both upward and forward. Seat belts may not be
wrapped around lower framerails. Under no circumstances are bolts
inserted through belt webbing permitted for mounting. Check
manufacturer’s instructions.

There was a picture with the below but I can't figure out how to make it come up.

After looking around at what others are using and what retail mounts look like , what i am building looks far stronger and i dont see any issues with it passing tech , we will see what the rule books say , most seat manufacturers just use a bracket that looks similar to this .......... which is what my seats came with but do to needing alot of extra height it would need a riser still i will post up some pics of the one i make when its done .

sorry pic didn't attach , i would have thought that stronger mounting would be required than the style mounts every one is using not very strong at all but since all safety harness attachments are mounted else were it probably doesn't need to be much .
