Trans is fixed! But now i have a 14 amp parasitic drain that i can't find. Disconnected the starter, alternator, glow plug relay, pulled all the fuses for everything including all aftermarket accessories, disconnected the main fuse for the fuse box, used a thermal imager to check all the relays and fuses for heat and load tested the batteries. Oh and after all that now my gauges and front door switches don't work. So thats cool.

So turns out the snap-on multimeter i was using was junk. Tried another multimeter a few days later and found it right away. Instrument cluster isn't powering down.

It was running great till yesterday when i was headed on a snowboarding trip and someone tried to pass me in the right lane. Stood on it and it downshifted, took off and started missing. I knew instantly the motor was hurt and a few seconds later it started hazing white smoke. Got off the interstate immediately and coasted into a truck stop. It has ridiculous blowby so im sure it cracked a piston. Thankfully ive got some great friends that came with a trailer and bailed me out! They were wayyyy to happy to rescue me with a 6.0
So i guess its motor build time!

Nooooo!!! Dang man sorry about that how much horsepower are you pushing with your set up?

Did you notice your EGT’s going through the roof when you stopped on it, yes I bet your Ford buddies were very happy to pick you up haha

I hadn't got the the dyno yet but it was definitely 600+. And no it didn't run hot at all. I fact it was several hundred degrees cooler than my S366, i was just telling my buddies that were with me how much i loved the setup and how much cooler it ran than my previous setup about half a hr before it broke.

How many miles on the truck? You've had so many issues in such a short time frame with it! Im sorry:(
233k. It does seem bad but its really doesn't bother me. Ive owned the truck for 9 years and this was the first time it let me sit. Its been over 500 hp since 130k and hasn't had a easy life, everything does seem to be breaking at once but since i got smart and changed careers i actually enjoy wrenching on it . I'm currently torn between a lml bottom end and building it! I can get a lml bottom end for under $1500 and id have probably 7k in a decent bottom end....

I think that just depends on how much power you want to throw at the truck in the long run. I'd use the lml bottom end if I didn't plan on going for crazy high numbers. Does the $1500 include a crank?

Are the LML pistons good at 600+ hp? If not, how much cost to switch to delipped LB7/LLY pistons? Simply swap them and not worry about a re-balance of the rotating assembly? If it takes a re-balance on the piston swap... how much can cast mahle pistons hold - they aren't a lot more money than LB7/LLY pistons, right?

The rods and other pieces pretty much should be for a while, right?

It will need a rebalance, the Race cast are heavier than what you could ever grind out of the wrist pins to get the weight down close to stock.

I have a buddy running a stock 200k lml bottom end in his lbz with dual pumps, 200% overs, and a S467.7. So far so good for him. If i can get one cheap enough thats the route im going to take unless i can find a deal on a built truck to part out. Building mine is kind of the last resort at this point because i dont feel comfortable doing it unless I do a crank, rods, pistons, damper, flexplate, doweled mains, and valve springs at minimum and thats money that would be much better spent on upgrading my shop and putting towards my mortgage. Being a grown-up sucks.....

you couldn't have said it any better, i know how you feel. owning a house is such a great achievement but man are they bigger money pits than a duramax and you cant even race them!!! :roflmao:

Well i had a epiphany last week about how to get a built motor without all the cost and/or downtime and am now the proud owner of a built motor lb7. Gonna swap the motor into my truck and sell the one i just bought stock and all the extra performance parts and hopefully end up only out a few thousand dollars and some time! Motor has Carrillos, socal pistons, studs throughout, socal cam socal balancer and is balanced.

Its back together and running great! Drove my built truck to the shop Friday night at 6 and pulled the motor out of it and swapped it in to my truck over night with help from some great friends. Had it running by 10 and the test drive was straight to the track where we got there just in time to make one pass. No issues other than a fule temp sensor not quite plugged in and a loose intercooler boot clamp. I didn't even change the oil on the built motor, just swapped it in and sent it Huge thanks to my buddy Randell who drove 8 hrs to my place from south Carolina and worked like a mad man the whole time so we could make it to the track.
