Hey guys, just wondering what you guys who have built your motors are running for main bearing clearance? Got my rotating assembly all installed and torqued/gauged. Took a gamble when ordering my bearings. Needless to say I had to order extra clearance mains. Platigauged out to .0015-.0018 with standard clearance.

You would be okay with the extra .001 clearance. Ideal clearance should be.0035 to .004. Service limit is .0055.

If your line hone was set to the loose side of factory tolerances your bearing clearance would have came up more in the .0025 with standard bearings.

Mine was .0023 with HX'S. I used a new crank and was line honed. I thought that was too tight until I seen some build specs of a well known builder.

What do you see for hot oil pressure idling with this? on this new motor I see 21 idling with the oil at 225-230 deg on my edge CTS2.

I use mics and bore gauges. It usually runs within a couple tenths compared to plastigauge. It also depends on the user with plastigauge as well.
If you do not have Mics and snaps take it to a shop and have it hard mic against your plastiguage..

Yea I measured it correctly, I was just wondering what every one was running. I know what the "ideal" specs are but it doesn't always work out that way! Crank is used with some miles on it and mic'd closer to the min side so figured id see a looser clearance.

It sucks . Not that much info out there about this. Really not much you can change without machine work

Exactly! That's why I did this here, figured someone would chime in, she's going together, as it brakes in it'll loosen up anyways!
Not enough to talk about. The clearance won't increase more than a couple tenths of a thousandth. You will be fine as long as you aren't a extremely high hp truck.

I disagree. The build sheets I saw the specs on are 13-1500 HP trucks.
