I just moved back into a lmm duramax from my 2013 F250 and I am driving myself crazy on which tires to get. Right now my truck came with 295/70r17 terra grapplers on stock 17s and it has a leveling kit. I have not done the small fender mod but they rub a very small amount when I turn the wheel all the way to the right.

My question is I want to go with a 20x9 0 offset because I want my tires to just stick out a tad but I cant decide on which tires to go with. I started out thinking I would go for a 305/55r20 for looks because I don't care about trimming to make them work but I know that they will drop my hand calculated 20 mpg highway down. I drive 6k miles a month mostly highway and I don't mind having the fuel savings since my f250 only got 16 highway.

The tires I am considering now are a 305/50r20 or 285/55r20 terra grappler g2.

I really like the fact that the 305/50r20 would give me the perfect stance I am looking for with the 20x9 wheels. My fears are that since I have the 295/70r17 now which measure 33.19x12.13 that the 305/50r20 will look to small being that they measure 32x12.4. Also I am afraid that because the tires will be an 1" shorter that they will make my rpms higher when I am driving 75-80mph resulting in less mpg even though they weigh 5lbs less per wheel. When I went from a 35" tire to a 33" tire on my f250 I ended up losing highway mpg because my rpms were a lot higher so that freaks me out. Also the 305/50r20 are a little wider which I know creates more rolling resistance.

On the other hand the 285/55r20 will look a little taller but they will not really stick outside the fender at all because they are only 11.7 wide.

So my questions is what would yall do? I am trying to order in the next few days. My one thought was to get the 285/55r20 and run a very small spacer to just stick the tires out a tad bit more. I know I sound crazy but I have made to many mistakes with tire sizes in the past haha. Let me know and I appreciate your help.

I would run a 305/55/20 I've done it on a lot of Lmm trucks. 0 offset makes it easy compared to 20x10 -18s

What about a 305 55 20 g2? Then you get the width of the 305 but they are 33.23'' tall instead of 32.05 like the 305 50 20.

Ya I'm thinking that would be the best route to go with. I just really didn't want it to kill my mpg since right now I'm getting 20mpg consistently hwy. I guess the will be the same height as what is on my truck now. Just .2 wider and 7lbs heavier per tire. Would that matter that much? My last Duramax was a lly and I ran 35x12.50r20 all terrains with a cognito 4" lift and I still got pretty good mpg but I'm afraid it's going to bring me down on this lmm. I'm driving constantly since I am a project manager for a construction company and the extra fuel mileage help but I definitely want it to look good.

Anyone have a picture of 305/50r20 on a leveled truck?

I had to do small fender mod on my lmm with 305 55 20 on a 20x9 with 0 Offset to clear with a 4 in lift. I am guessing they would clear stock/leveled with a large fender mod.
