A friend of mine was tring to change the tune in his 09' and the programmer kept saying flashing VIN for a very long time. he pulled the plug on the programmer to try again and now the truck won't start

What version is it? i think it was 2.46/7 i had the same problem, would just sit at the checking VIN screen. Updated to 2.48 and it works again.
Did he turn the key off first before he unplugged it? If not the ecm is probably locked
Tow it to a friendly dealership or a friend with a techII and have the ecm reflashed. Just play dumb dont tell them you tried to put a programmer on it!! Maybe just maybe try plugging the programer back in and follow the steps. After it says turn the key on and says tune vehicle or back to stock try going back to stock? I dont know if that will work but its worth a try:thumb:

Ok, Ill tell him to try that stuff and see what happens. I hope one of these things fixes it, hes really flipping out! Thanks for the help. Ill keep you posted
