Lots of guys run em touching each other. The only disadvantage that i have seen with that is that if the pits are muddy, they turn into one big giant tire.

I guess running them touching would have a narrower thrac width and be a little easier on the axle tubes

Mine touched with 285/75/16 stock 98 chevy dually wheels. I also have 2001 dodge dually wheels and they have a 1/4"-3/8" gap with same size tire and rim.

Ive run um both ways, cant say ive seen much difference if any at all. Duals will bend a SRW housing, no question, if your makin power and hookin it up, be prepared!

Bending tubes. notice the carrier is lined up with the spindal hole on the other side! This was towed in 1" at the brake rotor front and top.

I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

The tracks are pretty loose up here well actually very loose. Our best track is probably as good as your worst track :roflmao: when it bends or breaks ill swap it out.

I don't think you even need to be making big power to bend a SRW. Here's a tip, get a dually rear end.

I hear ya, knowing what I know now, I cant believe we got a full season out of it. I measure the new one after every pull.....so far so good!

Could a SRW housing be trussed to help stop the bending?

How much narrower are DRW housings? 2-3" on each side?

I think they're actually wider than srw axles but have 4" axle tubes instead of 3 1/2"

I halfassed trussed my srw axle

DRW's are wider. We also bent a SRW last year, so far the DRW is holding well for us. There is truck local to us that had a proformance pros rear axle, and still bent the spindles on it.($8000ish) price tag. We had $500 in a used DRW housing, plus the cost of new rotors bearings etc.. Back OT we have been both ways with tires touching and not touching, and as of now I see no problem with them touching.
