So I was digging through a thread about how much lbz rods will take. I don't plan on pushing my motor quite yet.... just curious, roughly how much will lb7 rods take? --Wyatt

On top of that. What are the ups and downs of these engines(lb7)?

dependent on setup imho... tight converter, smaller primary compounded with stock charger and aggressive tuning? 500-600hp for a limited amount of time. Now big single S475, loose converter, detorqued tuning and sense able driving? 650hp +/-. Im at 700hp and have been for many years

Anything more than 500 and you're rolling the dice. Good tuning can go a LONG ways in helping one live, but if you are going to play, be ready to pay.

I'm not sure i like the choice of words most guys use. 'Good' tuning means to me that the truck is at its maxx potential for the parts given while having great part throttle characteristics and driveability. This does not mean it will the safest tuning for stock rods etc. I think the correct word for what you and others mean in this instance is 'correct tuning can go a long ways...'

My tuning, s371,head studs HSP install kit for the turbo with waste gate, five inch exhaust and built Suncoast tranny. It us driven everyday on the tune that makes 632 hp and 1200 ft/lbs torque.

Don't let these guys fill your head with hopes and dreams... Keep it at 500 if you can't afford a rebuild. Not everybody has the same luck. Knock on wood:woott:

I know of trucks holding 700 while getting beat on constantly and I know of trucks that broke with just a mild canned tuner. Roll the dice but it's expensive if you lose.

I disagree. These trucks are solid to 3000hp. As long as you have paint matched mirrors and stickers. And I know they're all different from the power standpoint. No need for the "roll the dice" statement

700hp recipe:

S475 1.0 housing
2500+ RPM Stall Converter
Dual Pumps, Stroker Pumps or 30%+ injectors
Detorqued tuning.
I made 701hp and just under 1100 ft lbs

And it's all appreciated. I was being smart, I thought most of the guys on here were tough enough for some grief.
