Well wanted to post up on my SAS swap on my 2005 CC SB 4x4 Duramax. Hopefully this will be usefull for anyone else thinking of doing the same thing. I will keep this thread updated as I go with pics of the progress. I ran an IFS lift for about 5 years and decided I want more out of my rig so decided to straight axle the front with 4 Link and coilovers and plan to 4 link the back with coilovers.

More pics :) I set the frame at ride height. I rolled the 38"x15.50"x20" Nitto back under the truck to get an idea what the tire will look like with the new lift compared to the old height. I originally had 3" Body lift and a 8" Fabtech. I took the body lift off and the 8" Fabtech and going with 12" lift in the back where I originally only had 9" total.

XXX is a new outfit fabbing up a SAS kit like you want with the newer Super Dana60 from the 05' newer F-350 he has a great thread over on DP in Suspensions etc. on it's pics etc. Sounds like it might be hitting market place soon just starting though. He's got the idea for this truck's IFS mess. I'll be in line if it hits and guys like it.

Yea I am using Toby's kit from Triple X traction to do the front. I talked it over with him for back and forth on the phone about using a 78 Dana 60 or the newer 05 and up 60s I went for the older 60. Reasons I went for the older 60 were I need to change the caster so I have to cut the c's so I am running Reid C's and knuckles, high steer block, Superior Axle and gear inner and out axles (35 spline outers stubs). I didnt like the idea of the unit bearing if they ever go bad you would have to machine them to fit GM lug pattern. I am not saying that 1 way is better than the other but I felt for what I wanted the older 60 was the way to go for me. Its nice he makes the kit work for either axle.

I will be using PSC Hydro steering assist as well. I hope to get a bunch of the parts in next week. Toby seems to be a great person to deal with and he saidhe would help me with the 4 linking of the rear as well. He plans to come out with a kit to 4 link the rear but wasnt sure when it would hit production and I want to be done by spring so I will hope for the best and learn as I go. LoL!

This kit really has some real nice aspects with the 4 link and either axle it's so new the parts picked just have to get certain things done to fit yet. That 4 linked rear will be a nice finish for a total change up on the truck. The work involved is so extensive and to consider how careful Toby is being for fit and function shows his skill and dedication to a nice fit. Hope you get what SAS guys hope for and the look is nice on that truck too.

Back to the SAS topic that is one cool changover and I'd bet you could sell it instantly on here if you decided to. Set up is going to be popular from all the talk about on it. Lots of guys want to put one on a Duramax. Great effort on all parts there.

Well I got the first of many parts in today. Here is a pic comparing the size of the FORD 273 transfer case and the GM 263 transfer case. This transfercase with the use of a clocking ring and some other mods for vehicle speed sensor, input shaft, and the ability to reuse my stock push button 4 wheel drive is why I opted for this setup to cure my SYE problems for the front axle instead of something like ORU offers.

The rear will be trussed similiar to this. Obviously I dont have a bolt in pinion like this but the rest will be almost identical.

For the front axle I haven't really given it a lot of thought on how to truss is since my track bar bracket just got here yesterday. I plan to weld it on today and then take some dimensions. Im not really sure if I should truss it top and bottom or just do the top. I don' plan on rock crawling just some fun at Silver Lake sand dunes and maybe some Tug a Truck:eek:
