Hello all,
New to the forum..

I bought my first Duramax this summer - 2015 Duramax w/ 112k on it, stock- Wisconsin truck, no rust.

A few months and ~4,000 miles later, I found myself stranded in the middle of night about 3 hours from home. I was just cruising along (no trailer and no load) approx. 5 hours into my 8 hour road trip, moving at about 55mph though a construction zone, and all the sudden with no warning, the motor quit. There was no sound, no nothing. I coasted off to the shoulder, and the truck wouldn't start. I thought I had ran out of fuel.

I'll skip the humorous, not so humorous story in between.

At home, diagnosing the issue, I had the tell-tale signs of a CP4 failure - no start condition, and codes P128E, P0087, P0272, P0281. I was finally able to tear into it this past weekend and sure enough, CP4 failure. They're not kidding about catastrophic failure. I'll attach pictures.

I bought a Fleece 50 state conversion CP3, S&S TorqueMaster Injectors (10% over), new fuel lines and rails, and a FASS Titanium Signature 100gph. Of course, I would love more HP, but at this point, reliability is more important to me.

Would you do anything more since I'm already torn down? Head gaskets? Turbo? Are there any warning signs to look out for? I attached a picture of my turbo for convenience.

Welcome. And happy new year

If you don't have a lift pump maybe look into getting one. Otherwise you are off to a good start. You can always do more upgrades later. I wouldn't touch the head gaskets if you don't have any signs of trouble

If you tow heavy then maybe an L5P oil cooler.

How's the 9th injector? Any signs of metal get down there?

I opted to add a FASS 100gph lift pump. I'll look into the oil cooler. Thanks for the recommendation!

As for the 9th injector, I did not look for shavings. I just decided to replace it all.

Stick with a stock injector for the 9th one. Was just checking if you where going to use a 10% over down there or a stock one
