does anyone know what an expected lifespan of a cp3 pump should/could be? i have what I call a small surge at idle. i have read where the most common problem/solution is a fuel pressure regulator? well my truck has 200,000 miles on it, and a fuel regulator is approx. $180. well i'm thinking that if a new cp3 comes with a regulator already on it, maybe i should just change out the whole thing as apposed to just the regulator. if the pump should last for another 100,000 miles, then i maybe i will just change out the regulator. any suggestions?

At 200,000 miles I would replace the pump and regulator unless your truck is mostly stock which by your signature it is not

I wished now I would have done my pump 40K miles ago instead of just a reulator. Now I've got a regulator with 40K miles on it for a spare(or to sell), and just spent $740 at GM for a reman pump(went with an LBZ as it was cheaper). Would have been nice to have put that $200 towards a CP3 instead of just a regulator 40K miles ago as my CP3 didn't make it 10K miles before I started losing rail pressure.

Change the pump. My son did the regulator instead and it didn't last six months. Pumpe quit just like that. No warning.

thanks all for the input. The entire pump is what i thought would be the best choice anyways, but being on a budget, the cheaper way sure sounded good.

I put a new regulator on a 275k mile pump. Put 20k miles on it since then, but I have a spare LBZ pump sitting in the garage just in case... But so far, so good.

I would recommend you replace the whole pump. "Do as I say, not as I do" lol

My LB7 CP3 went bad at 135K. I wouldn't trust one with 200K on it, even if a FPR fixed the immediate problem. I'd guess the CP3 will be short for life anyways.

I just drove mine with the LBZ pump, and I cannot believe how much power I picked up over my 200K mile origanal. My BURB ran STRONG before, now it is ridiculous for a bus. And the turbo lights off so much quicker now, it was like driving an LBZ it lit off so fast.

So what are you guys recommending here...I have an LLY, but I'm reading to put on an LBZ pump? Is the LBZ pump a direct replacement, or will I need to do some other type of modification? I'm also wanting to do injectors, as far as I know they are all still stock/originals. Money is an issue for the injectors at the moment, but when its available, any recommendations there, or stick to LLY injectors?

The CP3 is a direct replacement, from what I read.

You will want to stick to LLY injectors. However, your injectors may not be bad. The LB7s had issues with the injectors going bad in batches, but usually on the LLY, it is only one at a time. I'd run a balance rate check once you get the new pump in, and see which ones (if any) are actually bad.

It is a direct replacement however you will need to swap over your adapter to the new pump as well as the CP3 gear

You may also need to rescale your rail valve current table in your tune. The LLY's seem to adjust better to the LBZ regulator than LB7's do, but some will lope at idle(I know my LB7 loped real bad with the LBZ pump and a stock rail valve current table).

To rescale my rail vale current table in my tune, i would need someone to do that. I do not own an EFI live tuner...heck I dont even know who did, or installed the EFI live tunes into my ecm as i purchased the truck with it already installed.
