changing the damper??

Anybody Changed out there front harmonic damper? If so what kind , ppe,ati, ect...? I am worried about the Crankshaft. I have a mini maxx and full race exhaust egr delete done, And had my buddy just bought a 09 lmm 3500 4x4 stock and his crank broke in 2 places.. My 09 lmm 2500 is only about 20,000 miles from the mileage he was at. Thanks for any info or suggestions!!

Cranks breaking is a complex discussion, and harmonics seem to play into it, but no one has found a real solution yet. Luckily, it is also fairly rare, especially on trucks with stock internals.

Many people run the ATI/SoCal Diesel damper. I run the ATI damper on my balanced rotating assembly, and my brother's truck ran it on a stock motor after we spun the stock balancer off under hard acceleration + traction loss. It seems to smooth things out quite a bit on a stock motor.

This is just my opinion, but i don't think I'd bother changing the damper without addressing the other issues.
