Broken gauges?

Me again here, this time my gauges have stopped working. The only ones I have that work all the time are voltage and oil pressure. The other 4 will only work if I press and hold the trip reset button. Soon as I let go of the button they stop working. I've heard of the little motors going out in the clusters but what could cause mine to go haywire like this? Anyone else had this problem? Truck is an 02 2500 hd duramax 6 speed standard

01-02 usually dont have stepper motor issues. You probably have a bad solder joint/connection on the printed circuit in the cluster itself.

That's what I thought too. They were working intermittently for a while but now not at all unless I push that button

my buddies got an 04 with the same issues. He was wondering what the heck it could be to.

I guess you have to replace the whole cluster??

Found a place in Connecticut that sells reman ones so I ordered one today. Should have it by the end of the week. I will keep everyone posted.

who much did it set you back for one of those??

They were pretty reasonable, cost me $350 and when I send my old broken one back they give me $100 back for it as a core.

Yeah they're called Digital Dash Solutions. They can be found on eBay if you just search your year gauge cluster. They did an excellent job. And even though mine had to be custom made bc I don't have a trans gauge or a PRND321 indicator they still got it to me in 3 days. And it works better than new! :thumb:
