LLY: Trasfer case stuck in 4 Low
It was the encoder motor. Gave it a couple hits with the end of a ratchet from under the truck and it shifted fine. Not the smartest way of testing it, but at least I can drive it again. Thanks for the input guys!- darkone98

LLY: Trasfer case stuck in 4 Low
So i went to drag an immobile truck out of my driveway, had to press the button twice to get it to engage. I only drove maybe 20 feet, and now it won't disengage. No basic codes or 4x4 messages, and I don't hear the shift motor. The button just flashes and goes back to 4 Low, no matter which one...- darkone98

LB7: New to the forum, I read a quite a few of them but this is my first post.
If the transfer case fails bad enough, It would seem like a transmission failure. I had a shift fork blow a hole in the side and leak out all my fluid, and it drove home fine. Backed out of the driveway, then lost all gears. Putting it in park made the ratcheting sound as everything was spinning...- darkone98

Question: 2007 LBZ van engine?
I am looking at a 2007 van engine that has a washed cylinder wall, the guy wants $800 for it complete with turbo and injectors. I wanted to build a LBZ for my truck, can a washed cylinder usually be salvaged by boring? Also is there any major differences between the van and truck motor?- darkone98

02greysixer hit the nail on the head. I too have seen alot of valvetrain and turbo issues, and the DPF washes the cylinder walls to nothing at over 160k. If you have a lift, it doesn't take long to do the cab. Had one get so hot with an H&S, it melted the black plastic post inside the oil filter...- darkone98

It should turn green then yellow if it detects combustion gasses. Did you pull vacuum through the top of the tester and do it at operating temperature? Also is your overflow tank darkening?- darkone98

Yours is doing exactly what mine did with bad head gaskets, both the temperature and the leaking. My leak was minor enough that it wouldn't show on a leak-down test, but with the engine running it had enough compression to push combustion gasses into the cooling system and cause it to puke out...- darkone98

mysterious coolant leak
If it is low on coolant every 100 miles, it should be fairly obvious. If it isn't exiting the tailpipe due to a bad EGR cooler or gaining coolant in the oil, It has to be pouring on the ground or being pushed out of the overflow.
