I sent mine to SIA. They sent it back and said it was too far gone. My dad wanted it, so I sent it to him. He said the area under the big caps was burned, and it looked like the capacitors didn't fail; it looked like the traces under them broke off the board causing high current/heat and burned...
SIA told me it was beyond repair.
What could cause the ficm to fail? I have a hard time believing this is bad luck. I suppose its possible, but my concern is that the truck will burn up another $2k part.
I've got a 04.5 LLY with a bad FICM. A shop replaced the original one in 2018 when it would occasionally die. They kept my old one. It didn't bother me at the time, but I wish I had it now. I hardly drive this truck, so it probably has around 5-10k miles since that repair.
In June, the truck...
I'm trying to button up my lly. I pulled the turbo to seal the drain and replaced my fpr. For the life of me I can't remember when I disconnected this or where it goes sucks getting old thanks in advance guys!
Do I really need them? Haha! I'm pulling my turbo to fix an oil leak. After taking those damn things off, I'm curious if I really need to put them back on. I'd rather not...
After some investigating, I found the source of the oil to be the turbo. Looks like its the drain after all. I think I'm going to tackle this one myself.
I'm not sure if the turbo has ever been off. I bought the truck last summer and only put about 8k miles on it since. I'm going to have a look and see if I can't find the source. Otherwise, I guess I'll be making a road trip. Thanks for the suggestions!
Hi, folks. My truck is leaking quite a bit of oil. I'm not quite sure where it's coming from, but it's coming down the passenger side of the bell housing. Anyway, I don't think this is something I want to tackle myself, so I'd like some recommendations for a reputable shop/mechanic to do the...
