Zf fluid recommendations

Well I'm sure everyone has there own opinion on what type of fluid to use in a zf, and how much.
I have read to use syn. ATF. But I have always used 80-90 in a manual tranny.
Anybody have some experience with different fluids in a zf trans?

hmm i thought they were supposed to have synchromesh? thats what i put in mine. but when i looked it up for mine they also told me that it needs 2 quarts less than what it really took.

What about mixing gear oil and some atf, I read that guys with nv4500s do it to thicken the atf. The ford zf6's use straight atf because they have a pump and a oil cooler, because atf is thinner than gear oil wouldn't that mean the oil gets hotter easier?

I know the ford ZF6 really no different other than pump/cooler take normal merc V
