I'm still on stock gaskets and head bolts. 15k miles and probably 100 passes.

I get it that you're making a statement of fact, but you're not saying cuz you've not had any problems in 15k mi and "100 passes" it's not a worthwhile or necessary upgrade/safeguard??? Are you?

And what's your max boost pressure?
I'm not saying it's a guarantee, but there's a reason why head studs are a highly recommended upgrade
;)

FWIW
I had 20k miles of built trans max effort tuning abuse on mine before studs went in, no problems. I think the LB7's were more prone to issues tho

50,000 miles 600-700hp 200-300 hundred passes stock head bolts :D

Hahaha, oh man
OK Paint....I believe you, really...

I just think it's funny that just about every time I mention something there always seems to be guys that come out sayin things that would contradict my suggestion...

Head studs are a pretty common recommendation when adding boost and power... I do believe I've even read posts where you've recommended using studs before for safe measure, even though I guess you don't have them

Oh, and FWIW...
I noticed quicker spool up and cleaner WOT exhaust emissions after I installed my DHD 3" Y-bridge. I was pleased with the purchase and couldn't be happier getting rid of the 2pc design and o-ring seal.

After the heads came off and went back on I kept popping the seal on the elbow going into the bridge (didn't have problems before that but also added a turbo that made 40psi at that time) rather than mess around with trying out new seals I just got a one piece bridge... So the upgrade was done for that reason and I found there to be other benefits as well
:)

I didn't say they aren't a worthwhile investment, just pointing out that the stock gaskets aren't guaranteed to go with added boost. And it isn't the studs that are necessary, it is the gaskets. The lb7 lly gasket is a bad design that will fail eventually, the head bolts are not the issue. It makes sense to do studs if you are replacing gaskets since you have the heads off anyway.

I hit 47-48psi in both my big tunes, and low 40s in my dd tune.

I hate the stock setup, the double o ring is a PIA!!!!

I know, right!

Thanks for clarifying

I agreed to upgrade to studs cuz the heads came off, and for me it was more out of fear of the unknown...there seemed to be enough persuasion between the forum and shop that I had my truck at to make it feel like a good investment wether my set up really needed it or not.

Since that time I've realized that stock studs/gaskets seem to be hit and miss, some guys say they had a problem with them and wouldn't run with out grade C gaskets and studs and others, like paint and yourself, say they've had no issues and don't feel it's necessary till ITS NECESSARY....

I always try to make preventative upgrades whenever possible and that's how/why I make the suggestions I do...

Anyways...
I thought the APR studs had greater clamping force and therefore helped the standard gasket survive longer?

Oh, and Cap
48psi...

I really liked my y bridge from pro fab. It seemed to wake the truck up at about 2500rpm and up. I had the shorty with the boost tube that comes up over the alternator.

These are the same results our customers report to us too. Thanks!
