LB7: Y-bridge install woes

I had the heads off Emma due to a head gasket. Took them into the machine shop for a check and they ended up shaving both heads about 0.012".

Now I'm trying to get the y-bridge to bolt up, and it will not go far enough down to line up the bolt holes.

What are my options besides pulling the heads and having the machine shop shave the intake side 0.012" like they should have when the did the resurface? Guy said something about that a long time ago when shaving the heads.

Has anyone had to shave the y-bridge to get it to fit on milled heads?

That is a lot to take off the surface without sinking the valves. It's unrelated to your fitment issue but it would be a cause for concern if it was mine. They could also shave some off of the intake faces to fix your issue at hand.

Yeah, I know the intake surfaces should have been shaved, that is the real fix.

I know the valves are getting close too, but at this point I need a truck to drive. I bought some room by using C gaskets instead of the A and B that were in there.

I think I'm going to try shaving both sides of the y-bridge. I just don't want to round trip the heads again (which is what I should do), this thing is almost back together.

Emma is also my DD, so she is not going to see any big tunes.

Well, I got it to fit without doing any machine work....:woott::woott::woott:

I was looking for the old rubber seals which had already been compressed, and found I had a new pair of GM seals. I measured the GM's versus the Victor Reinz and found the GM's were 0.020 thinner in the sealing direction. I put those in, lubed them with white grease and was able to just get the top bolts in.

This doesn't solve my other issues, but I can get the bugger back together. It's also interesting that the Victor Reinz are thicker, which is probably a good thing for a high boost build, but will make the y-bridge harder to install.
