My 02 jetta tdi is averaging 42ish mpg. When i bought it, i was hoping for 50+ but not broken 43-44 yet. Still hard to complain about that IMO.

Reportedly, it has a mild set of aftermarket injectors (520s) and I think it's a peppy little car. It's nothing like the tuned dmax, but it's not getting passed up by speed of smell. LOL

I have OCD about cleaning. dust/dirt on the dash will set me off :spit:

I don't know you, but I like you already. haha :thumb:

My lil sister is considering a new TDI Jetta, so this thread has been a good read for me. I was hoping to hear that the new TDI had a little more tuning potential but at least something is available for them!

they only have 140 horse stock but from what ive heard you can do quite a bit to them. Just wish you didnt have to buy the top of the line model just to get the tdi.
They say, dpf delete and malone tune with some injectors, 190 horse can be made but the oem vgt turbo is restrictive. Maybe Trent can make a EPR kit.... :D

Bri-The thing that bothers me the most about this 140hp #, is the euro or" vw stock" hp output for the tdi is 170hp and 260lb ft of torque. Cross the water and the u.s model mysteriously has only 140 hp and 230lb ft of torque, damn epa

Brian- yes you can get them in the 2 door of course. If you are a mpg freak the areo dynamics may be better on the longer cars, i like the looks of the golf. Or you can get the V-10 tdi clean diesel in the tourag suv thing, i think it gets in the 30 mpg range, they are pretty nice too.

I almost got the 2-door, the back seat is huge and pretty easy to get out of(im 5'11" 195lb) im not what you would call a "small" guy. The only, only reason i didnt is i have a handicapped daughter, if she could have gotten in and out on her own i would own a 2 door. The a3 was 6g more to match options, was more difficult to see out of and felt a bit more pinched in, cuz the interior panels are thicker and it does not come in a 2 door option that i know of, but i think you can get in in the awd platform audi offers, that was the fully optioned out a3 tdi awd for 36k
no thanks

the A3 tdi is front wheel drive only.......

personally Id spend more on the A3....looks better, feels a little more solid, nicer seats/sport-package, nicer instrument cluster/interior, better headlights, and a little quieter. And for some reason it did one-star better in the offset front crash test vs. the VW tdi. Which is odd because they are the same basic platform.

Poop on a stick. You are right, you cant get tdi/quattro drive. My bad.
I participated in the. Leavenworth euro cruise this year and saw a white a3 tdi, slammed on kw coilovers/hre 19" wheels that had the awd and quattro sticker on stock rear glass, and tinted in. Now come to think of it, switching out the rear window would be pretty easy.
goes to show, dont believe everything you see/read. Sorry guys.

I ALSO HAVE THE PADDLE SHIFTERS AND IT IS A FUN CAR ESPECIALLY WHEN THE TURBO IS SPOOLED UP, OTHER THAN THAT SHE IS KINDA A DOG, BUT MPG IS NICE, I AM IN THE HIGH 30s low 40s but i drive the shit out of it , just 18k miles so she should get better.

Ass end is light so the E brake is a real joy on corners or sliding into parking spots :happy2:
