I've seen it cause damage in standard OE applications (mostly Honda), but it was generally ran for some time. Definitely more than a brake in and a few dyno pulls..

The SoCal damper is "pressed" on to the crankshaft so even if the bolt was loose the damper would stay in place. A press fit also takes some of the load off of the alignment pin in the crank as well as providing a better conduit for absorbing harmonics.

The factory damper is a slip fit which causes all sorts of issues. :(

Thanks for all your help Guy Tripp.

I dont have the tools here i need to take this all apart so ATS sent Bryan V to come and get it. Even if i fixed the dampner issue i still need to address the trans leak. Kinda weird, i cant see where the heck its coming from but it shifts just fine.

ATS say's they should have it all fixed up by next Fri. All the guys there want me to race Trent just as bad as i want to.

Thanks ATS for sending Bryan out to pick up the truck!

Newly what is the problem with the dampner? It should have been pressed on and the crank keyed. There really shouldn't have been a issue unless someone did something wrong or had a defective part.

Point?

But he had Socal dampner? Going by his signature? No? Trying Not to stir the pot.

From what I read all we know is the bolt came out by hand....unless I missed something......everyone can guess at whats wrong or what happened but personally I have a tough enough time figuring something out when its in front of me and I'm working on it......

Theres no need to bash anyone. Not socal either, guy has been on the phone helping Newly with it all day. ATS is going to take a look at it next week and see what the issue is. We started to pull it apart, but then ATS called and said there on there way with a trailer.

Also Newly was there when they put the damper on because he help the bar to keep it from rotating while they torqued it down.

At this this point it hasnt been looked at enough to speculate much. There is no play or movement when the belt and bolt is off the damper. thats as far into it as we got.

Guy Tripp was great help. I know for a fact the dampner was torqued to 280lbft before the motor was installed. I was there for the install and after we put the trans in and bolted it up we double checked it again. I have no idea why the bolt came loose but we will take care of it. Guy will be in touch with ATS next week and they will figure it out so it doesnt happen again.

Bryan V is driving all night to get the truck. It should be back at ATS shop tomorrow night or Sunday.

Ill keep you all posted and thanks for your help.

Would have been interesting if Guy diagnosed the engine. I would have liked to see what happened to the trans. Maybe we could have helped saving a big tow bill and Bryan could watch tv instead of driving all night. Maybe you could have pulled Sat. and raced next weekend.

Each time Mick sheared his keys, the balancer spun and loosened the center bolt. Matter of fact, that is how he recognized the balancer problem the second time.:D

I wanted to take it to Betty's shop and have guy look at it. The problem was im already far (550mi) from home and if it didnt get fixed i would of had a bigger bill. My GF is with me too and she is 8 months pregnant. I thought of everything. If it came down to it though, she cant fly so i would of had to rent a car to drive all the way back, get my 05 Dmax and trailer then go all the way back to Cali the all the way to Denver then back to Durango again. Brians the one who offered so i told him to "come on!" ill post up all thats diagnosed. Im still planning on showing up to weekend on the edge with no seat time and no real tuning time. Ill pour some more fuel to the 753hp dyno run and turn some juice on:D Ill try to make it!

Makes sence. Maybe ill just weld the balancer on! J/K
