I went to buy some for my 99 Jetta diesel. Its the same 5/40 I use in my 2007 Dmax. After reading the back label, it says:
Not for use in 2007 model vehicles!!!
Humm, DPP stuff, not the right weight? Anyone Know? I've bread all 3 of my PSDs and VWs on this stuff with very good results.

bahhh you're fine. The LMM is the same as any other duramax. I doubt it will cause any big issues. JMO!

been lots of talk at DP and other oil places, can't use regular oil need the newest code oil for the LMM or infact any of the DPF vehicles. I'm sure the general and every other manufacture knows what to look for and will test your oil if you have problems.

I wonder what is behind this? Just a way to push the next, new oil? Kinda like parts? Is there only one company that makes the newer code oil right now?

Is there only one company that makes the newer code oil right now?

most companies are making the CJ-4 (IIRC) oil.
notice the price went up $2/ gallon?
because they are making one oil now w/ the higher spec and of course higher price.

If you can find the old oil buy all you can if you want to save some money.
