Even at Napa I say its a 05 2500 . If I mention 4500 out comes the book and its about 15 minutes later that the guy comes out with a fuel filter or oil filter that looks like its off a off shore drilling rig .

Must be off the 7.8 or something . The thing is monsterous . My Napa use to have some smart guys . Last year or so I think they hired the kids from Kragen to work there . I have pretty good luck as long as its not for the kodiak .

No thats not the part .... well thats what the book says sir .... well the books wrong ..... just look up a 05 2500 and give me what it says for that truck please . But sir thats a completely different truck ..... yes I know ..... just look it up please . Thanks

You would think this truck would be in the computer by now . 05 4500 Hmmmm .... Napa truck parts and brakes .... yes if you can find the part # . They have it all , its just finding it . Now I save the stubs off boxs and just walk in and lay down the tag from old box with part # . Saves a bunch of time . Most of the part #'s I have memorized now .

I went in to Auto Zone once, I was getting a starter for the small block that was in my 82 chevy truck. I was telling the counter guy how I stroked it to a 383, as soon as 383 came out of my mouth he insisted on looking up a starter for a dodge, I just told him I was price checking and walked out.

I like on the autozone website you now can find your part, and arrang it to be picked up at store. It gives an order number so no part numbers are involved. If I am looking for something I know there will be an issue with I do my own research and then do it online and pick it up, saves so much time. Try looking for motor parts for a racecar, or a 52 Chevy street rod with a new v8 and a camaro chassis....

If they cant use that computer they are plain retarded. Oh and tho boot, all the stores here are filled with ricer drivers....

Been actually doing that alot Mike . Saves driving to 3 different stores . You just go right to the one that has it in stock .

I get frustrated sometimes too. At our local advance auto, theres one guy thats really good and knows his stuff, but the other 7 people there know nothing. It sucks when I come in and im in a rush, but hes on the phone...

Im always needing parts for my offroad buggy, and I give them part numbers but they insist on what vehicle...I did the same thing chris did haha

"well if you really want to know, its for a 1968 4 wheel drive volkswagen beetle.......on a 1976 Jeep CJ7 frame with a rear mounted chevy 4.3 V6, and a TH400 automatic..."

I sell parts, and whenever a customer wants something that I don't know the part number or never heard of it, I just tell them it is no longer available. Makes for a short simple work load

how often does that happen to you.....?

You should rethink that. You should step up and say you dont have a clue rathr than waste your customers time....

how do you think it makes you look when they go somewhere else to find out it is avail and wasn't a problem.....they prolly dont come back to you. They write you off as another guy that didnt know what he was talking about, I would.

Kind of along the same lines. I was in the local O'Reilly a few weeks ago on a Saturday or Sunday for something when a guy walked in looking to get some rotors turned. The gal behind the counter said there was no one there at the time that could run the machine, and then when the guy walked out, she said actually she could, she just didn't feel like doing it right now. Boy isn't that convenient . . . for her.

should should have seen the face of the guy at the chevy dealer when i wanted to order a lbz mouthpiece for my buddy. argued for 20 min about it being a part on its own and not part of the turbo. i just get part numbers for everything instead. save everyone lots of time.
haha this reminds me to aobut arguing with a napa guy for a while about if a fitting was real or not, drove 10 mile to a oil-air and what do you know they had them in stock

In college, was the counter guy at Grand Auto. I quit because the customers were wack. Need spark plug wires for that car??(suggestive selling) No, its fuel injected, doesn't use them.
Need a water pump for my truck. What truck? Ford. What engine? Don't know. Is it a 6 or 8 cylinder? 6 or 7 not sure. What size is it? What does size have to do with it? You're going to have help with the install right? Yes, I have a friend. Well, send him in to get the water pump.

My AC doesn't work. What part do you need? Well, I was hoping you could come out and figure it out in the parking lot.

I need this battery for my car. Let's make sure you got the right one. No, I want this, it's on sale for $29. Its for small import cars and has 400CCA, so what do you drive? It a Cadillac with a 500 CID engine.(not sure the exact size he said 15 years ago). The battery won't last very long at all. Well, its got a non pro-rated warranty for the first year right, I'll just keep bringing it back in for free ones.

Hell we get service customers like that all the time. I like it when two weeks AFTER you change the oil, they show back up w/ the A/C inop or a ABS light on and swear it was something you did during the oil change. I really have had both of these happen in the last month not to mention the power window switch I damaged while putting a head on a I5 Colorado  Working on trucks would be great if it weren't for a select few customers we get a few times a month.

The bad customers are a pain ,

Dogde dart S-6 Carter 2 brrl comes in one day . Hey can you help me . My carburetor is flooding . Well sir you need to rebuild that thing . Probably the needle and seat , but I dont do repairs really like that . I rebuild them . He had no $$ and it still ran , just flooding pretty bad . Well can you sell me the needle and seat . Sure I say . But before you go I think you should be very careful with that junk fuel filter you have on there . It is a fire hazard with squeeze clamps like that . They are really loose . He says thanks and leaves with needle and seat . About a week goes by and the fire department shows up with him claiming we caused his car to catch on fire with our bad needle and seat . Remember I never touched it and just looked under the hood . Best part was I wrote on reciept about fuel filter hazard noticed . The fireman said they all laughed when he showed them the reciept and more that he was trying to say we caused it . They had to come by and get our version anyways though .

I helped the guy , told him about the hazard and then it catchs on fire and he trys to stick it on me . Experience told me to write it on the reciept . Lucky .

Nothing is worse than bad customers. I was one of those guys at the parts store that had a big line because i knew what i was doin. I still deal with the crap today as an BMW tech. Trust me, some bimmer owners are pricks!

Went to have my rims and tires swapped front tire to inner dual rim . It was killing me watching the guy knocking my alcoa 22.5 around like it was a steel rim or something . It was hard to see and hard to keep my mouth shut . Finally I said to the guy .... Bro thats not a steel rim there and it goes on my personal truck . Please be a bit more careful , your marks last the lifetime of that rim .

Thanks ..... the guy looks at me like what an asshole I am .

Some people are so careless . WTF !!
