VIN#1GD422C85DF212612

2013 3500 crew cab duramax 4wd dually

RPO codes in attached picture.

Basically I'd like to add remote start to my truck. I know I don't have the ap8 code but I've heard of others being about to add remote start to their WT's.

I tried programming a genuine remote start fob to the truck. I was able to get the door lock/ unlock to work but when I tried the remote start button all it did was turn on the courtesy lamps.

I've looked at the available kits but it would seem my truck has all of those things already.

I'm half tempted to just buy some remotes with the 3 digit code and take it to the dealer and have them at least try. Then if it dont work I return the kit.
Anyone else been able to add factory remote start to their WT?

I think you have to reprogram the BCM to activate it. Maybe Ben could tell you. I added it to my truck, but I added a bunch of other stuff at the same time. I'm not sure exactly what all has to be added just for remote start.

I know it's possible. Hard to find information about it online. Dealer has already told me I have to go aftermarket. But the big thing here is that all that I've read say you need to have xyz. I have everything except the codes in the glove box. Keyless entry, power locks, the hood switch....

Do you have DIC control buttons?

No I don't. Wish I did.

I was curious because I had the same thing happen to me once with the lights flashing but no remote start. It turned out the remote start function was disabled in the DIC.

That's plug and play just order the bezel and buttons.

Do you have part numbers by chance?

I have the WT trim so Im not sure if that will work or not.

Ive tried looking into the computer with my Verus Edge and I can see the remote start function in the BCM. I also like i said before successfully programmed a fob.

I found the part number for the dic controls. Apparently it adds a bunch of stuff that's normally hidden. Is the harness for it already there?

Yes, the harness is already there.

You'll need a BCM reflash, and I think you might need to have the remote control door lock receiver reflashed too since your truck doesnt have AP8...not sure about that though.

Well if that's true then it's just a matter of convincing the dealer of that. They already told me I have to go aftermarket....if I only had a tech II....

There is a procedure they can do where they submit something to GM and they do a custom BCM flash where it adds remote start to a non remote start truck. I forget what it is called, but they have to make a custom flash for your VIN since your VIN doesn't have remote start associated with it. I'm pretty sure GM used to sell a package that included remote start fobs and programming to make it functional in non factory equipped vehicles. I'm surprised they told you you would have to go aftermarket. If you just need BCM programming, Ben can probably activate it with his new BCM flashing he has available.

So what do you need from me to get this working? Can you do the flashing? What about adding in the outside air temp and all that is that possible too?
