that was a big or-deal. the engine was filled with sand and mud. got hit by the tsunami lol.

That's a bummer!!

I'd love to have the Jap spec STi motor though (not one filled with dirt): 2.0 closed deck, big port heads, better rods etc. We got the crap over here lol

Mounted oil cooler... few other things. Been working on the wiring harness, cut off about 8 connections I don't need anymore. Soldered on the new injector connectors etc. Put oil in the motor tonight!! neat feeling lol. It's getting close :thumb:

thanks guys,

Just waiting on the banjo bolt for the PS pump to show up... lost that somehwere.. and some silicone radiator hoses. Then I can fire up the pumps and get the 2.5yr old E85 out of the tank and put some fresh in and see if it will run

Definitely get some videos, I have a bracket in the back that holds my vid camera :)

Thanks Chris!

It is a good feeling to see it getting so close. Hope I put the motor together right :)

It's like reliving a dream I had once working on this again- it's been down so long lol. Funny looking at the turbo setup I built 3 years ago... I was 25 then, for the most part I did pretty good, but I have learned a lot since then and now I see things I would have different (and some things I'm changing as I go now) and some things I did pretty good and probably didn't even realize at the time lol... been an interesting experience :thumb:

Going to do some major mods to the truck this next week (I have it off)... so the car will sit waiting for parts... then back to the car. Been a lot of projects lately  no complaining here!

Started it for the first time, and drove it today!!!! Had some issues finishing it up that delayed me today, so I didnt have much drive time to drive...Working out the kinks, and I've got a long ways to go with the tuning.... But it runs!!!! Yay!!!

Indeed!

I lost a coilpack after about 250 miles on the new motor. At least that's what I think it is.. (hopefully). They were original, had 173k miles so it makes sense. Got some used ones coming in hopefully today!

Tuning wise it has been a pain... even on speed density these big cams are causing issues... but this thing is moving some air at low boost!! :D

Here's a video of the second startup... have the idle at 1000rpms and it still lopes nice :thumb: :D

Darius was texting me yesterday from the track.

He ran [email protected] with a 1.63 60' and backed it up with a 12.08(no mph) and 12.16@111 in his WRX. :thumb: Stock turbo/injectors on a mild tune.
Thats with a slipping stock clutch, too. Damn, those cars are something else.

Just replaced the cracked heads on mine along with water pump, timing belt, all new gaskets n seals and it drove for 10 miles n stalled. Now its barely running and has low oil pressure. No power whatsoever :( any ideas? It ran 100% perfect for the few miles it drove:(

Video of a 2nd-4th pull using NLTS (no lift to shift- cuts the fuel so you can keep your foot planted between gears, boost only drops a few psi)

Boost is set at 18psi, but is creeping up to about 20 by 7700rpms. Making good power with low boost, but I don't have much more injector left....

I'm goin to Dallas this weekend to pick up a rebuilt shortblock from auto science and with the new heads, water pump n timing belt It should be ready for many more miles :) your car is badass btw! Mine aint gonna be all that quick but its also my wifes dd driver so its ok. Think it should still do easy low 13s tho(maybe a 12.9;)) since it did a 13.5 on the stock turbo
