Question: Work clothes?

Where are you guys buying your work clothes at? I'm in need of getting some new work clothes so I went up to wally world and got sticker shock to say the least. I used to buy DICKIES shorts for $10, and shirts for $9. They now want $19 for shorts, $18 for shirts, and $24 for pants. And to top it off they aren't made out of as heavy a material as they used to be. I have some that are 7 years old I still wear daily, but the ones I picked up 2 years ago are all coming apart. I need to get some new ones, but don't feel like spending that kind of money for work clothes that aren't made to last. Any online stores to buy GOOD work clothes at?

I buy carhartt when it is on sale. It is still not cheap, but it lasts. Some local ranch supply stores have sweet sales on occasion. I did score some double front pants for 75 cents a pair at a garage sale a few weeks ago...

I got my Carhart stuff on sale as well at FleetFarm when I was in North Dakota last time. I'm sorry I realize you are in Florida and that isn't much help. Perhaps try a western wear chain store like Boot Barn or something else. Those places carry Carhart and maybe you can catch a sale. Shame to see quality going out the window these days. Everyone wants cheap cheap cheap so they shop at Walmart. The suits and ties in the sales division at corporate just want to see profit margins go up. Inferior materials are then used to bring their costs down and quality goes down the toilet. WalMart mentality for ya. Sad to see local stores go down in flames.

Red Kap is who I went to after Dickies prices went up and the quality went to crap. They make a bunch of the dealership style uniforms. If you sign up for their newsletter they do 10-15% off sales every so often for various holidays. If you can find Dickies outside of Walmart (you can buy them directly from Dickies website), they are still the thicker material. They have a special, thinner material version for Walmart.

The last few pairs of DICKIES the wife bought me have all come apart at the seems. They only use a single stitch in the seems where they used to use a doubled up seem. I stopped by tractor supply and there prices were even higher than Wal-Mart, and the clothes looked the same. I'll look into some of the links as I need some heavy work clothes. I've been tempted to call some of the uniform shops and see if maybe they have some leftovers or sell new ones outright. I just know I can't hardly afford to be buying them from wally world or TSC when they don't even last a year.

X2 on ranch or tack stores. I have started to pay the money for a good set of work pants. I use to get wranglers from Walmart they were thinner and the quality was not there. You still can get the good one, you just have to pay for them. Walmart pants don't last, low prices and you get low quality.

I have had the same problem before. Just go try the stuff on at a store and get the size and item number so you know how it fits and then order it online.

The quality of dickies went down the tubes. I like carhart and even the craftsman work pants arent that bad

Carhartt is great. Expensive but great. I have some shirts and they're the only jackets I will wear. I've had one jacket for like 6 years I work and play in all winter. I even weld in it. It's getting old, nasty and more and more holes but I won't part with it.
I realize not everyone likes the fit of the original boot cut wranglers but that's what I wear. They are tough as nails. I have proof.
One night when riding 4wheelers my old pos bayou 4x4 died about 4 miles from the trucks in the middle of the forest at midnight. We had lost our only rope a couple hours before. Every quad already had 3 or 4 people on it so I thought we were going to be stuck walking back to the truck. I decided to take my wranglers off and use them as a rope. I tied one leg to my buddies quad and the other leg to mine. It held all the way back to the truck dragging that quad through fl sugar sand with me and the girl with me still sitting on it. I untied them after and wore those damn pants for a couple years after that. No worse for the wear

One of their only stores is within 30 minutes of my place. They have a "no bull gauruntee" which is just that, take them in say they failed or didn't work out and they give you a new pair no questions asked.

Their "ballroom" crotch gusset is awesome.

The nice thing with duluth is that its like a tool truck warranty but even better. Your basically buying you last pants. Once they wear out you send them back or take them in and they give you the current price as a credit and let you upgrade to anything else as well.

The downside is that they are mail order. The only have two true stores.

I wear the fire hose flex pants now which i got after wearing out my original fire hose pants. They are much lighter and nicer but still plenty warm. I havent tried their cool flex fire hose. I like their really deep pockets and big tuckable cargo pockets.

If you havent yet go watcg their commerciald. Theyre hilarious.

I love my carhartts and recently found the fire hose pants and can say they're tough, comfortable, and they seem to clean up easier than my carhartts after working hard all day in them
