Will not move after rebuild

The truck is a 2002 with the 5 speed allison. The kit included clutches, Transgo,overhaul, pump shim kit, lockup valve, etc. I have done about 10 transmissions before so I am 90 percent sure the assembly is right. When installed, the owner did not put Any fluid in the converter. He told me he dumped in almost 4 gallon and the Trans did not circulate or lessen the reading on the stick. I stopped by last night and there are no codes, but what I did notice was the PRND was blinking intermittently. When I went from R to D there was no change in the fluid level and no sound from the Trans engaging. There is communication to the valve body selonoids, checked that with efi live.

I'm not an expert, but it sounds like there's something wrong in the pump - you don't need to fill the converter,and once started, if the pump is working, it should suck the fluid up and fill the converter fairly quickly. Other possibility - Does it have a deep pan? Maybe the filter fell out? Where on the dipstick is the fluid? If he has a deep pan and the filter fell out, it's possible it sucked up fluid until the level dropped below the opening the filter plugs into.

I am going to try a new internal filter and let you know how I make out. I am sure I lined the gaskets up correctly, with having to drill the tiny hole and then making sure all lined up correctly. I used the gaskets from the transgo kit and remember the first gasket had the company logo facing up and the second gasket had the company logo facing down. The first gasket is the one toward the engine and the second is the one towards the transmission.

Mike would you please shed some light on how the stator would cause this problem?

The gaskets should have tabs on passenger side of trans with the trans in the truck.

Make sure the speed sensors are plugged in I know that doesn't have anything to do with the fluid level but if the speed sensors are not plugged it will have no engagement and no codes

Replaced the internal filter, no changes. Going to take the Trans back out. Won't be the first time and probably not the last.

Drop the pan and look at the black gear selector deal I guess it would be called, and then make sure the shaft that slides in and out of the valve body is out with the pin in that slot in the selector. I had the same thing a few days ago..

I had something like this happen to me last week. No codes and shift selector would blink almost immediately.. Fluid would come out of test port on the bottom but nothing out of the lines. Ended up having a torn gasket from bell housing to separator plate.

Remove the pressure plug and start the motor-- should have good flow. Cheap and easy-!

Not always a good test. Mine would come out of the port on the bottom but nothing came out of the trans lines.

You have a G solenoid so the pressure is a little over 100 psi at idle and nothing much will come out the cooler lines. You need to rev it past 1500 rpm to have an effective test.

Not when you have an 03 trans in it without the G solenoid :D :hug:

So, how many bolts did you have left over in the end? Let's hope you don't have 5 pump bolts left over, meaning you could have put the plate in upside down completely blocking the pump from doing it's job.

Update: had the pump apart last night..everything was put together correctly..Installed new gaskets..like I said I have done about 10 Allison's and have never had an issue like this..the only thing I can say is different is the owner forgot to put Dex in the converter...I also got some Vaseline and lubed up the pump gears to provide a better suction on startup.. Maybe it will fix itself :/ ?

Even if you've done 500 your missing something or you fixed it this go around by accident. The customer not putting ATF in the converter has nothing to with it.

There's a gally where the pump pulls from what else is there to miss..it's just weird
