I always built it to come on above 1200 or maybe 1400rpm and it won’t slam on. Takes a second or two for the ring to move the vanes to the 98% closed position. But it will come on if you coast.

IIRC it is only the vane tables you change

I am stuck with the Vane tables... The LLY Has a lot of cells that are already in the upper 90's. Ill try to post a pic of the LBZ and LLY tables side by side so you guys can see where I was shaking my head going WTH???...

Lly doesn’t work as well as the later models, bigger exhaust housing on the turbo.

Good to know.

Dont forgot your max vane table too

Good to know

Ill try to post that pic soon so you guys can see the difference, It seems the LLY has it already in the tables, or I am misunderstanding...

Your looking at the Max table. Thats a limiting table and those values are to high for a tuned truck for 2300rpms and up. You could over speed the turbo and trash it. The turbo brake is only at 0mm3 and will not damage anything.

I don’t like driving on a tune with a turbo brake while not towing. What you need IMO is a turbo brake switch or a Dsp to switch the tune. There is a write up on Diesel Place on how to make a switch.

That lbz table looks like the one I used to run except I had it lower in the rpms. I ran it all the time in all tunes except for winter-exhaust brake on icy roads is sketchy sometimes.

The table with the high values are my stock values... I am not sure how to tune that or what to do with it.

I believe that tuned one is yours. I got it either out of this thread or off of this forum somewhere, I would have to look again.

So question to both of you, is there anywhere that explains the tables and lets me know if they are limiting tables, compensation tables, tables to play with, tables not to play with? Just looking for something to give me a general Idea of what I am looking at in reference to should or should not play with in respects to all areas of the ROM and maps. Over on my Turbo gassers forum, in the last 18 years we have done that for the general community with explanation of what the tables do in relation and respects... Made it real easy for new comers to dig in and get there feet wet...

It’s in the description that it’s a Maximum table. That means it’s a limiting table. Stock those values are fine I guess, but being tuned changes things. It should look more like the LBZ table. Anything over 40% on the big end(3000rpm/120mm3) is just Getting the turbo way out of it efficiency range.

There is no nice organized collection of what you should/ how you should modify tables. You have the description on the table, but they ain’t always clear. When I was learning I searched the table name ie B2222 on here and diesel place. If there wasn’t a Discussion on it you probably don’t need to mess with it. The thing is while there is a steep learning curve tuning is pretty simple for the most part so no one has compiled the info and posted it.

Thanks. I agree on general statement about tuning. As to a Nice neat collection of Data, I intend to change that with my write ups as I do things. More to come.
