Very easy to turn up with right injectors ,well tuned rack ,limiting speed governor instead of torque limiting , fuel pressure increase . They make a fluid dampner for them factory part . Run the cam timing one tooth advance instead of straight up has marks for both . Make sure it has 100% blower instead of 80% . Both look same externally just one has thinner housing and larger lobes . But real power is in the turbo, blower is there for scavanging. By the valve cover shape I would say it has four valve heads instead of older two valve heads . And really rare and damn near impossible to find is the few the military aluminum blocks . There is also 8v53 out there as well will rev a little higher than the 72 series but they tend to be hard on cranks .

Screw the neighbors. That would be sweet sounding every morning.

And you could pull whatever the axle would handle.

Might need a body lift and a cowl hood to make it fit. No 4wd as you will need the extra room for the Detroit.

They do alright. The ARMY uses them in a lot of their trucks. They were in the wrecker I drove. I had to replace the one we had in Iraq. It was so low on HP that when I turned the fuel regulator up, it still wouldn't get out of it's own way. That's with 40,000-lbs of extra armor and tools on it also. I guess I was used to my truck that didn't have all the weight but turned up.

Oh, don't straight pipe it.............you'll need ear muffs. I've seen me do it.
