She is fine just shook up. Could of been 1000 times worse. She took my truck out to run an errand in the rain. Spun out passing someone went sideways across the oncoming traffic lanes through a ditch, bushes, and fence stopping in someone backyard. She is fine just shook up. $3K in damages just for the stepbars, bed cover, and exhaust. Probably $8K between the property and my truck, but that's what insurance is for.

Need and idea for new steps mine are 4" stainless wheel to wheel and are no longer made. I like the idea of stainless or chrome. Definitely wheel to wheel and something bigger. These did a great job protecting the body from rocks and fences. Lol

Dang man, glad your wife is ok!
That doesn't look too bad, all things considered...

Man, that is one of my greatest fears for MYSELF when its wet, it makes me sick when my wife takes the truck:baby:

Good luck finding some new steps, it looks like like they did indeed protect well against the rock dings, paint chips... And fences:)

Dang man! Glad she's ok. Glad my LMM has traction control, makes it easier for wife.

My 01 truck is very hairy on wet surfaces.

Ya it can be a hand full in the rain. I should of turned the tune down, but she has driven it in the rain and snow before and never had a problem.

Damage isn't very bad, but she got trashed both bed side, bed cover, and the exhaust. Tailgate, cab on driver side, front bumper, and a wheel are scratched up. Need to look it over real good when it stops raining. It drove fine after words, but I want to look over the drive shaft real good. I don't need that letting go or taking out the trans.

Need to decided what I'm doing with the truck been thinking about custom paint and Bushwacker cutout flares. Now might be the time. So if anyone knows a good shop in Houston that does custom paint let me know.

One of my buddies had those steps too on his LMM. The dealer dropped it off the lift and the step held it from falling. The step just bent up enough to just scratch the door a little.

I switch my DSP5 switch to "wife" mode when she or my granddaughter drive the truck, especially when it's raining. So far, they have never asked what that little switch is for....

Mine would get in the seat and switch it to stock and say THAT was too much:rofl:
She hates driving it...loves the passenger seat tho...

One night she was driving and started lippin off, she was tutning a corner onto an adjacent street and wasnt paying attention (to me) and I reached over and put it on kill while she had about 50% or more of the skinny pedal...quieted er down, only for a second
:roflmao:

Was it smart, well, it wasn't dangerous how bout that...
But the look, OMG, the look on her face....man that was priceless, she bout jumped out of the seat...it was amazing:woott:

My wife knows where the switch is and has driven my truck plenty on bigger tunes in bad weather. She drives according to conditions and normally doesn't drive to aggressively. Last time we took a trip in the snow I reminded her about the power and when she took off the light was red before she got through the intersection. LOL

I'm pretty sure she started to spin a little panicked over compensated and spun out the other way. Since the wreck we have talked a little some type of performance driving lessens. I would enjoy them too I'm sure. She always thinks Im just playing around when I put my truck sideways, but sometimes Im not. I just choose to ride it out. Ya got to know how to handle a vehicle when something goes wrong not just rely on traction control.

Maybe a little bonding time and some defensive driving skill time. Glad she is ok and the truck can always be fixed.

Shit happens. Everyone on here has "lost it" a time or two on slick roads, but hell if most of them would admit it.
I personally enjoy kicking the rear sideways a bit every once in a while, esp when coming out of the car wash. :hehe:

Dont let them get under your skin, Dozer. Glad your wife is OK. :)

:roflmao: Now that might work since she has brought up she has been thinking about wanting another munchkin.

Oh I have had my truck completely sideways at 70+ on an icy bridge at night. It took both lanes and the shoulder, but somehow I got in under control before smashing into the barrier. I've also put it into at few ditches sliding off muddy back road, but never a scratch. I just wish it was her Tahoe it could use some paint. After 9years and 180K my truck was in almost mint condition. This was the first time it been out of the garage in over a month and she only took it because I was detailing her Tahoe.

Oh well I'll get it fixed going to get some estimates tomorrow. I just hope all the aftermarket stuff is covered. The one place that has my steps listed but out of stock are $1320 + shipping. I'm really not even sure they are still made.

First glad wife wasn't hurt.
Secondly I agree that having the stainless steps helps with protecting the body.
Also check out runningboard warehouse, they have a couple of different styles of wheel to wheel steps.

Thanks Ill check them out.

The only place that really wanted to do an estimate without having the adjuster there $12,100. I got prices locally for my bed cover, steps and exhaust and just that stuff was $3K. One shop actually wanted to take my truck apart and have the adjuster come out to do an estimate. Are you fing nuts?

Oh and to top it off someone hit my wifes Tahoe while she was at work and took off. Its not to bad I think I can buff most of it out. Also I got Poison Something head to toe getting my truck out of the ditch/backyard. As a kid I wasn't allergic to that shit at all. Now I guess Im not so lucky anymore.

That's crazy, anything I've ever had done was damage plus any hidden damage found.

Shitty deal with the Tahoe. Oh, I know the feeling. I had poison this and that 15 times one year. I guess I've built up some immunity since now it's a spot or two.

Glad your wife is ok and sorry for the string of bad luck. I believe the old saying goes bad things come in threes so I think your good now. :D
Looks like Westin offers a wheel to wheel step bar. Might be worth looking at too.
