Wife hit a deer

Roni was running up to Lowe's to return some clamps today, and had a deer jump out in front of her a mile away from home.
She is ok, :thumb: but she was shaken up. Its only the second accident she's ever been involved in.

She had only been gone about 5 min when the kids and I heard her honking her horn in the driveway, and we wondered why she was back so soon.
Came out to the front of the house to see this:

Her Blazer took a decent hit, but its a tough little truck.

Called 911 and filed a report. Emailed the pics to my body shop and told them I'd be in Monday to ask when I can schedule it to be repaired. Hood, fender, core support, grill, headlight, turnsignal/foglight are what I could tell with my inexperienced eyes. Luckily the radiator, condenser and battery didnt get touched.
I used zip ties to clean up and hold together most of the remaining grill, and I had to fabricate new mounts for the headlight as it broke off its moorings. Its not the greatest fix, but it'll get her to work and back for a few days until I can get it into the shop.

Thank goodness she's ok.

Lots of folk are hurt or killed avoiding animals in the road. It's usually safer for most drivers to just hit the brakes and steer straight and take the hit than to swerve at high speed.

Driving through Texas at night is always an exciting drive:

"Buck, my wife just ran off with Bambi, and I just lost my job at the petting zoo. I have nothing to live for."

"I feel for you Joe, perhaps it's time to make I-10 Dash. Hey, here comes a pickup with a trailer! At least you can give the rest of us a good show if you run in front of that one! DO IT!!!"

Deer make terrible friends...

Glad she's OK, reminds me of when I met you and your wife at Merchant's in 07 and hit Bambi on the way home (mine had a little more damage though as I was traveling 70 MPH). It shook me up a little so I know how Roni feels. At least it's still drivable and nobody was seriously hurt (many people are hurt and/or killed in the Northeast from large animals crossing the road each year).

Glad she's ok! sucks about the damage though. tell her after the 8th or 9th deer it gets pretty fun!:woott: haha where i grew up it was a few times a year deal with them deer!

Id wish she would have been. I need my hood painted, the grill chrome is chipping off, the lights are getting foggy lenses and the bumper is rusty.
Her Blazer was in nice shape. Good thing is the body shop we use is incredible.
