x2... did that when I replaced carrier on the old truck. Had 80k on it and the blue grease was still on the splines when I pulled it. Did it anyways.

2WD For The Win :happy2:

Yup, 2wd slip is in the devision of the 2 pieces at the carrier bearing.

No, pump-rub, trans braces, extra weight, front end issues lessened. Just slap some nice sticky meats on the rear and give her hell till its carryin the front wheels at launch:D
Born and raised drag racer, 2wd is my way of life! ;)

Mines a CCSB 4X4 and I have the aluminum drive shaft. I've always wanted to polish it but we get a lot of rain up here in western Washington so I would never drive it. I don't think it would go too well with the blacked out look I kinda have going on either.

I've never seen or even heard of a 2 piece aluminum driveshaft. Can you post a pic?

Just a guess...but I would think he means to pull out the slip yoke and grease the splines inside the slip yoke. Thats what I did when I had the driveshaft out to replace the output seal...I used wheel bearing grease.

Is there a specific weight for this bearing grease? I ask because mine has had a horrible clunk since 2500 miles. I've since gotten it lubed numerous times and it keeps friggen coming back and it drives me nuts. Whatever GM uses dosent last for shit.

I'm changing my fluids this weekend and was planning on dropping the shaft and lubing the piss out of the splines to try and fix this problem. I know its plagued GM full size trucks for years and every GM truck I've ever owned has done this so this dosent surprise me at all.

Any grease would work I'd assume?
