Why go with a Van thermostat housing?

Moved your post to its own thread so we dont clutter up the WTB thread.

usually its either to unclutter where the factory pipe ran, custom setup with fuel lines or valve covers, or something esle

Most do it for looks, and to be routed like every other chevy truck in existence other then the 01-10 duramax. Also allows better access to the #2 injector and the valley.

Exactly what the A team said. Plus long story short my trucks Frankenstein truck. Like 01 with 05 heads, injectors, but fuel rail systems is 07. Anyways the coolant hose to the thermostat is hard to get not to leak bc it mounts off on valve cover a bit. So I'm changing to van thermostat housing to avoid that hard pipe seal all together. Also be easier to change injectors in future too is a bonus. Plus coolant going straight route to radiator and not directly over top motor cudnt hurt either

I mainly changed to the van housing so every time I have to pull the drivers side valve cover to mess with the injectors I wouldn't have to drain the coolant. Plus it makes the rest of the engine that much more cleaner. Just note that for LB7 you will have to make a new mount to hold the TCM or need to relocate it.
