Um, Kevin....its because its Gearz and HorsepowerTV. Cripes...those shows would whore themselves out to anyone with the $$.
They're similar to what Diesel Power Mag is to actual diesel performance.

Old school tech cant hold a candle to the LS engines. The power you can get out of a stock-ish motor nowadays is amazing and its still completely streetable. Go figure.

Thats me! Never had a carb decide its fuel pump doesnt want to work and fail with no warning. Give me a 350 4 speed anyday.
I have.

Though, there was technically a warning, had I somehow noticed the stream of fuel coming from the pump while I drove (started leaking after I started driving). When it didn't start (1/2 hr from home), I notice it pouring gas while cranking. Who knows how much ended up on the highway on the trip out.

To be fair, the pump was old (10+ years) and mechanical. And yes, I have had an electric fuel pump fail, but it started making odd noises about a week beforehand, so I had time to replace it and didn't get stranded.

All types of systems fail eventually, but I have always had higher reliability and equal (or better) performance with fuel injection.

Also on this episode the engine was in a old station wagon and was fuel injected just like it would have been in what ever it came out of but it was ugly with that plastic intake so it would look awesome with two four barrels on it

Here is the clip if anybody wants to waste there time watching it

Also unless you want to be even more retarded and put a distributor on it you'll need that ecm to tell the coil packs when to fire

Thankfully GM removed the distributor drive from the LS engines, making that kind of stupidity more difficult. Now if they could only do something to make carbs more difficult.

The video did have a good point about carbs being cheaper than after market fuel injection. Though I suspect retuning the OEM system (EFILive!) is not much more than a carb. Plus, I'd rather pay a bit more and have it run RIGHT, than save some money and have less than perfection. Which is probably why I drive a Duramax :D
