Long story short my s300 let go and blew 2 gallons of oil out the stack about a month ago:mad: So I figured in the mean time I would just throw the stocker back on untill The Warrantied (Hopefully) s300 comes back. I noticed my EGT's seemed higher instantly after switching back to the stocker even on a near stock tune. For instance my EGT's well just sit at 1k doing 80mph down the highway when they use to be around 800deg:confused: If I get into it at all the EGT's will hit 1600 in no time:( I thought maybe the intercooler was clogged so I switched that out today and it made no differance whats so ever:confused: So what else would cause my EGT's to run higher after losing a turbo????? My engine temp is fine, I changed the oil twice since that happened a month ago, my balance rates, oil pressure, etc are all in check. I just cant figure out were else there could be a restriction or if there is an internal problem that would cause higher EGT's but everything else in spec.. Oh yeah, coolant is good, no pressure in overflow or rock hard rad hose or anything else of the sort, just higher EGT's:confused::confused:

I have no idea why the above post is 10 miles wide:confused: If a mod could fix it so its easier to read or delete it and I will try again, I would appreciate it

might be the 40 over sticks. it may be a close to stock tune but those sticks are putting 40 percent more fuel in there and the stock turbo will have a harder time properly burning that.

The tuning is ajusted for the 40 overs, I had the 40 over injectors way before the motor build or the s300 and it ran fine/cooler then. I went back to my original stock turbo 40% sticks tuning when I put the stocker back on..

What are others seeing for EGT's running 35's with a stock turbo?? 1k seems high to me just cruising at 80mph:confused:

Maybe:confused: I really remember the EGT's being lower with the stocker and 40 overs but maybe Im just being paranoid, IDK... I do know the s300 ran a good amount cooler but it was only on there 3 weeks so the stocker is still fresh in my mind.. I just need to hurry up and get these twins and forget about my EGT's:rolleyes::D

I run 45 overs / stock charger and it's right at 680-800 depending on throttle input/hill/wind resistance/ect.

I have had higher egts since I did tips but balance rates show 2 injectors in the 5.5 range so i'm thinking I have either 2 bad sticks or other problems. need to look into it before I really break something

Did you clean your pyrometer probe after the oil spill through the exhaust? That could give you some false readings.

No I did not, but I have considered changing it because I have no idea what else it could be:confused: I would imagine what ever oil was on the probe has burned off in the last few hundred miles though.

This may be a dumb question, but you don't have any type of cat or chambered muffler on your truck do you?

I asked because some people do put the probes where they could get oil on them in that type of disaster. Not saying thats where his is at but it was just a thought. And I know that putting the probe in those locations wouldn't be the smartest of places to put them either.

Did you do a turbo vane position relearn and setup/reconfigure the vane position/desired boost tables correctly when you went from a non-VVT back to a stock VVT?
