I've helped the economy more than I wanted to these last few months, built a new house and blown motor at the same time. Now trying to put a little back.

No change here. If I want/need it and have the cash, I buy it!

Since the "package" was signed today, I'll bet that the construction industry will start picking-up in the next couple of months. ;)

Well, my wife took a leave of absence this past year because she and I thought it would be good for our first son and herself to do. So going from a dual income to single income put a crunch in my play money. Anyways she is back to work now and I am starting to splurge a little bit here and there again, But also trying to keep in mind that with the economy the way it is and another mouth to feed I need to keep some money in the bank for the potential rainy days to come... On another note I do agree that "we all" in general need to keep spending to get this economy rolling again. Here's a question though, how much of this economic depression is caused by the media pounding it in everyones head, we are in a depression, so and so layed off 3k more employees, so and so wen't bankrupt, etc.. etc.. It's seems that everyone see's and here's it so much it gets ingrained in your head not to spend money (HENCE) the domino effect of this economic depression??

Do you all think now is the time to buy a house. I been lookin at a couple that are close by to the family farm. They are gettin to a price that i can afford but are wonderin if i should just hold off and wait to see what the economy is going to do. I have some money saved up for a down payment just I dont know what to do.

Over here I could drive you by 6 houses for $25,000 or less. Some need work, some dont.
There is a 3 unit for $19,000 listing said one unit ready to rent.
a duplex for 15,000 can tell needs some work
a nice looking small house needs not much of anything 25,000.
Around the corner from that is a home listed for 0.95% for 30 years - dont know the fine print....

Buyers market here as not much is selling.

I've decided to wait awhile on more mods for the truck. I just paid off the house and will have the truck paid off next month and I'll be debt free.
I'm looking at another motorcycle that will probably be my part to stimulate the economy.

As long as your income looks secure, then now is a good time to buy. Housing prices are really low. So are interest rates. As long as you aren't trying to sell.........

junk yard find a 03-07 3rd gen 2500/3500 CTD and yank the diff its a true trac. they have an AAM1150 in the rear

probly get it for 1/2 of what a new one would be.

all you will ned is carrier bearings and an dia indicator... check back lash b4 you disassemble your current setup. then re-install with said back lash with the new diff...

R&P are a matched set;)

i cut back unecessary spending on food joints because i can cook a hell of alot more food for the same money and its healthier (my 09 goal).

Im still buying truck parts pretty consistently, weekly stops at the Deere dealership for parts, etc. Then again, the ag sector isn't quite hurting as much because we've been down this road 5 years ago before ethanol took commodity prices through the roof.

You can make a lot of money in times like these(provided you have a little money your willing to risk). Playing the stock market isn't easy, but you can turn huge profits over night.

Or loose it all or most of it overnight.

Are you a first time homebuyer? Right now there is a $8K non-refundable tax credit for first time home buyers that make less than $75K/year or married coupoes that file jointly less than $150K. This can be filed on 2008 taxes.

I havent spent much lately because everything I need for the truck is big $$$$$ and I am not sure I want to go down that road yet with my job at risk right now but the motor could go at anytime so I may not have the choice. On a good note my wife and I have paid everything off we own.

I still plan on spending a bit, the only thing I am going to wait on is the trans for now. Right now I feel my job is secure, but I have thought that before. :(
