guided deal or just hunting you vs. wild?

I've never been but would LOVE to. My old man lived out in Denver/Golden for a few years and had pretty good luck. They just hunted public lands, not guided hunts. Never got to go though and really wouldn't know the first thing about it. Just know I'd probably die trying to hike my big ass all over the side or a mountain hunting for elk at altitude. :spit: Still would love to take one though!

I used to put in for the local elk hunt here in KY every year but haven't in a year or so. KY has the largest elk herd this side of the Mighty Miss. ;) They still only allow a very few animals be taken each year.

Wouldn't miss it. Been lucky enough to live here most my life (I've always hunted NW Colorado). 28years of hunting Elk here and I've progressed over the years from the venerable 30-06 all the way up to the .378 Wby I carry & shoot with now. I've even been seen in the woods with my custom .416 Swift I built some years ago (505 Gibbs case necked down to a .416 that propels a 400gr TSX at 2950fps :D). I like to anchor them where they stand and in most cases, they never know what hit em. 4th season is when I usually go up and use my snowmachine to get way back in there.

Best of luck Larry. Hope you and your quarry cross paths.

My dad got the stone sheep and his brother got the grizzly.

My dad wanted to get the sheep with his bow but he broke his collarbone when he went up there the first time and barely made it back up there before the season ended.

Sorry about the hi jack Larry
