Hello to all. I have finished my head gasket replacement and have junked the bully dog outlook:thumb:
Now I want to get the rig tuned. I am pretty sure I want some type of EFI live tuning with a dsp5 switch. I don't want to buy EFI live. I would like to have a tuned ECM sent and send my og back as the core or have someone come or meet me to tune it. I want to keep the cost down. Please PM me if you are a tuner near eastern NC (252) area code or if you can help me get his tune done.
Or please send me in the right direction.

Go with mark from Danville. I've had longhornfabshops and kory Willis. Had better luck with Manfred then kory. Just my opinion. That will be my next move most likely.

Tony @ Ridgerunner does ECM swaps. I think Dustin @ Diesel Addiction might...and he is in NC. Danville would be a good choice, as would Kory. ATP (IdahoRob) also would be an excellent choice.
I would contact each tuner and ask them what they would recommend based on what you want to do with the truck, and your current mods. Since everyone's trucks and goals are different, asking others who the best is for you is really not the best way to go. You have to do your homework.

That said.....do not, under any circumstances, buy Longhorn tuning. Probably the worst "tuner" out there....

One thing I would look into is charges for tune updates. Also distance from tuner. If you have to drive so far it would be cheaper to buy a auto cal or v2.

Dustin at Diesel Addiction is located in Wilmington and does not charge for retunes. If you get a built transmission from him he'll retune it for free with hotter tunes. I got my truck tuned from him about 5 years ago and I'm not sure if his policy has changed since then.

It's pretty helpful to get one tuned and then have your tuner tweak it from the jumpseat. There are several great tuners on here but Dustin at Diesel Addiction is pretty much in your front yard.

Dustin has not changed his services. I paid him to tune my truck in 07. I've gone through a few different setups and have had my tuning revised over 10 times with no charge.

when i was looking to get tunes. I called kory, ATP and Ridge Runner for tunes. I called at 9pm and left a message on their phones and who ever contacted me first got my service. And what do you know, Kory contacted me first thing the next morning. they are all good and i had way to hard of a time picking one. So i let them do that part lol

Lol is that longhorn comment a joke?

OP, I'm around 27549. If you want to drive, order some tunes from your choice of tuner and I have no problem flashing them for you. My buddy is a dealer for Kory if you decide to go that route. If you plan on needing a retune later, get an autocal now and be done.

My vote is Mr. Mark Broviak at danville performance! Call them and talk to them, always answer the phone and super helpful people! Not one unfriendly person there! If Mark's busy he will call you back and actually take time and answer all your questions and never be in a rush to get off the phone!

I think the comment about who calls you back is a good one. With rare exception, most guys that have stood the test of time will give you an excellent tune. But, if you can't get someone to field your needs while you standing there will $$$ hanging out of your pockets, then can you trust them after the sale to take care if you in the clutch? I left a message on the answering machine for an excellent tuner, but I never got a call back; I used someone else.
