Plowing the interstates is only fun for a while. I plowed on Tug Hill in Upstate NY for 12 years. They measure the lake effect events up there with yard sticks. They got 8 feet the one storm then 6 feet in another. Now I work as an instructor teaching the plow operators in winter and equipment operators in summer. Funny part is we get all that snow up here and the governor sends us to Long Island every time it snows...LOL

I agree state plowing gets extremely grueling sometimes and rush hour is a pain although it is entertaining when the car that just had to squeeze through the battery to go fast is stuffed in the median around the next corner haha. Parking lots and residential is more fun typically

Just straight piped and LBZ mouthpiece. I have an Edge tuner now but I won't plow with anything above the first setting until I get time to install and EGT probe.

I agree with all you guys about these constant 1" snows. 3/4 of our contracts are 2" inch triggers, but it seems like all them call in and tell us to push it anyway with every small dusting.

I don't know how any of you have plowed on a college campus, but I plow several places around Purdue here in Lafayette. These students are all idiots, walking behind my truck WHILE it's moving in reverse and making me slam my brakes on. Then there's the people who wait for you to stop for a half second while you switch to reverse and then cram their stupid car between you and a wall. I hate plowing when people are around, it's really the only thing that ever pisses me off about plowing.

Ever try plowing a mall lol granted we have pushers and every once and a while get the jack ass that parks in the middle so we build snow around them lol but yeah def dumb people.

We usually complaints and have to go fix it if a car gets "accidentally" snowed in. We plow a lot of places that have people coming in and out every 5 minutes. Mcdonalds, energy companies, gas stations, and the like.

I do. Suffered from the LMM air cleaner ice cube this year. Also got a plow on my tractor and on the Bobcat.

We don't do it for a living though. We do it so the employees and the UPS guys can get in and out. One of the few drawbacks to having your shop in the country.

Plows are slow and the fun driving is in front of them.:woott: Clean roads are for pussies.

Very true. Only problem is most of who wants to pass are Mini Vans loaded with kids,Smart Cars and the Import Tuner Club. And none of them are much fun in the snow...

Whats the advantage to a back blade?

Back up to something and pull the snow away from it like a garage while a doing a driveway. You pull it away far enough you can back up behind the pile and push it.

Aww that shouldn't stop ya. I went through the mountains in Utah in my wife's 2 door Saturn Ion right after they opened before the plows hit. That car surprised the hell out of me carving a path through ~6" of snow. It was a little hairy changing lanes trying to pass the slow pokes.

Now an Ice storm in our trucks gets real interesting. Let off the throttle and the ass end start to come around and you know its time to slow down.

I hear that mine drives a Jetta TDI and it does surprisingly good in the snow. Ice is tough no matter what.I have even had a double wing tandem plow step out a little when I let off throttle. Luckily we only get a few ice storms here, mostly snow. Right now the season total just up the hill a bit is 297" and its snowing a little now

They eliminate the need to back drag with your plow in front of garage doors loading docks etc. I believe they have downpressure so they do a good job cleaning the pavement. They would save a ton of time doing driveways.

I plow with my LLY just our properties and for friends and family, not commercially. It does a great job. I've got an 8' BOSS straight blade.

Correct ^^^ The Daniels we run are set at around 1000lbs of down pressure and do a great job scraping areas the front plow would just float over leaving material behind.
