White smoke!

I'm new here, I got an early 04 duramax 150,000 miles, intake and 4"

I know this has probably been asked a million times, my truck smokes at idle some times it's not even noticeable and sometimes it is, it will let out some smoke when I take off from a stop but clears up when I pick up speed. The truck is also making a noise like a fast ticking noise, you can hear it inside and out side the truck.

I know my motor is prone to injector problems so I figured that's what it is, took it to the shop and they hooked up the computer. No codes at all and no codes stored in the memory? So I guess the next step is balance rates, how much does the dealer charge to test it?

You may be right about the injectors causing your issues. Balance rates will only take a few minutes for the dealer to check with their Tech II scanner. I don't know what they will charge because I never go to the dealer for anything.

If the injector is the cause of your smoke, it is probably leaking/sticking a bit. Some have had success with running a strong dose of additive/cleaner through the system. It might clean that injector enough to give you some more time.

The time really ain't the issue, I got the cash to replace the injectors if I have to. I don't want to but if it will quiet down the motor and stop smoking I'm all for it! And what additive do most run and where do you get it?

At your GM dealer there is a thread here discussing the injector cleaner,worth a shot.
