OK I have really hesitated asking this because its so hard to describe. It started out as no big deal, but has gotten noticeably worse in the last 500 mi. So it only makes noise on cold/cool start up. (part of the reason its getting worse?) So it sounds like an accessory bearing or something, it only does it under light throttle, and goes away 1/2 mile down the road. It doesn't do it without the truck moving.

I have been trying to get to a local shop but can't even get them on the phone! Obviously my concern is fixing it before serious damage is done, I hope! Thanks.

Easiest way to see if it is a pulley, take the belt off and start it up. Not going to hurt anything. Water pump os gear driven so it is just the fan, alternator, and power steering/ brakes that will be off

If I take the belt off I won't be able to drive it, right? It makes no weird noise till its in gear rolling down the road.

The truck only has about 45K on it, I know things fail for no reason but I had not heard of fan clutch failure's?
