Whirring noise????

When I put my truck in reverse there is a fairly loud "whirring" noise. Sounds like a shaft bearing is shot or something to me.

I had the truck down for gaskets and turbo change out. Lost some tranny oil changing the dipstick, but I topped it back up before it ran. Only other thing I can think of is that I was reefing on the dipstick while it was in the transmission... is there anything that could have broke in there?

Any ideas?

Yea. I thought my transmission made this noise before and I don't recall what it was or what I did about it...

Maybe I am only noticing it now because all of the sound dampening and insulation is gone hahaha.

my trans pump is also kind of noisy, sounds like a high pitched chirping noise

'01 Allis are some noisey bastards with their pump whine.

Mine is an 04. And to me, it sounds like a bearing has totally crapped... but only seems to be in reverse.

Weird.

If I put it in reverse it will make the noise, let off the brake quickly and it goes away but comes back once the truck is rolling... almost seems like it doesn't make the sound or doesn't make it as loudly when there is a load on the system.

And no trace of the same noise in anything but reverse. Its loud too, very noticeable.

I never had pump noise... until is switched to Amsoil Torque-Shift a couple weekends ago. It was immediately noticable the first time I moved it after changing the fluid (hoot method). It seems to really only be prevalent when it is first started.

mine makes a whine when im in drive or reverse. I can mostly hear when i have my window down and im rolling to a stop but im not too worried.

and mine usaully whines when it first starts too, but then gets less noisy when it warms up, i too am running amsoil. Should here this thing whine when its -30 C outside lol

i know the sound you have i have it too..its fine nothing wrong with it.

Mine has the pump whine also, and the noise in reverse, but only is noticiable when you give it throttle.

Mine is less noticeable on the throttle... if you goose it a bit in reverse though it sounds rough!
