After working on them all.... I have to say the lb7 is the best to work on.. they are great trucks... yea they eat injectors once in a wile.... but they are great to work on...
X2 and the other models go through injectors too just not as often.

147k of abuse on my LLY. 2 wheel bearings, 1 set of brakes at 146k, and a self inflicted trans replacement. Not a bad truck. LB7 bottom end minus the injectors.:woott: And it has never overheated!

And we have two LB7 shop trucks. One is untouched at 245k, the other has 215k and had it's only injector replacement at 175k.

Just find one none of us on here has owned. Bone stock exhaust, no pyro, etc.

Question to all: this conversation made me wonder what engine model is the most commonly owned here on DD's? LB7 is my guess.

I'm not implying they are the best as my vote is for LBZ just simply wondering.

I think the best advice here is what's the newest and lowest mileage one you can afford. I don't like the new body style so I quit looking after the 07 classic LBZ. I've owned them all. If you are going to keep it mostly stock with a few bolt on mods then the 2006 and 2007 are the best IMO. The 6 speed tranny is great. If you are going to put a built motor in one then it really doesn't make much difference. Injectors, cups and hold downs can be problematic on the LB7 however. If you look at the quick 50 list under drag racing you'll find them all, but the majority are LB7's and I think that is because they are the cheapest, and most all of those trucks are highly modded.

If you can afford it get a LBZ with low miles. I went ahead and spent the money back when i bought mine, but not many people get lucky and get a 07 classic with 38,000 miles and was kept in a garage all its life

I have 2 LB7's. The only reason I bought a second LB7 was to have rolling spare parts for the first truck, and I have gotten a pretty nice collection of LB7 parts and 5 speed tranny parts.

If I was starting from scratch I think I would be looking at an LBZ.

One of the nice things about a Federal Emissions LB7 (not the Cali truck) is that there ARE no emissions components (EGR, cat, DPF, etc). This makes it easier to pass the visual tests if that is a concern. It never was for me, but if you live in an area where there is visual testing, it would take a pretty sharp D'max guy to bust you on some things, and for others it just does not matter (intake/exhaust).

X2..... Just picked up an LMM last week. Seems very similar to my 06. I vote LBZ and LMM for a daily driver and anyone u want as far as pulling or racing

I have owned them all and my favorite still is the LB7. They are pretty reliable and in my opinion a piece of cake to work on.:D

Only big dogs have lbz's... If you can pony up the money for an lbz , do it! I've had my lbz since new and it has never , and I mean never, left me stranded. That's woth170k miles on it with tune exhaust(or lack of) intake and lift pump. I honestly think an lbz with basic upgrades is the most reliable and fun thing you can have. Trust me I'm a Dr.

and after posting this-Joe would like to know if anyone is near him to give him a lift, since his truck is now going to leave him on the side of the road...

I agree a retard designed the LMM

You cant get to anything without taking a bunch of crap off

Also as much as I despise Lb7 injectors. I have had more issues with my LMM owning it 5000 miles than I did with my lb7 I didnt have to do anything until 140,000 miles on it

I have jipsy tears in my truck for luck! No way my LBZ will let me down.

I see all these built lb7's, and think to myself, the only reason they're built is because they broke in the first place....

they will all give it up when you push the power north of 600/650. lb7's have simmply been around longer and have been pushed farther and there are far more of them out there then any other model so i think your statement is slightly skewed. my other lb7 has 140k and no failures either
